“walking distance to Northwestern and shuttle, comfy beds, massage showers and great breakfast.”
This is the place for Northwestern!
“Very please”
I picked this hotel due to the proximity to my family. The staff was very friendly, courteous and responsive. I did have some issue with the room, but maintenance fixed it very quickly. The staff even let my nephews have some of the afternoon cookies. The hotel is located centrally, and within a quick walk to most anything in the area or to the El. The beds are adjustable, and took some time to figure out where the adjustment lever was, but once set, was very comfortable. The pool and the workout room, although small was sufficient as it was hardly used while I was there, was very well maintained. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and will be using for my next stay.
“Conveniently located, average hotel”
Conveniently located in Evanston to shopping, dining, movie theater, and the train stop. Parking in lot next door was okay. Items I didn't like - odd odor in closet, no "do not disturb" signs for the door, towels were thin and not very white, remote didn't work well. Had to ask for batteries and still the power off didn't work. Although I may stay here again, it would be a hotel that I will really be looking forward to.
“Great Experience”
Everything was great. I'm looking forward to staying with them again when I go back in December :]
“Clean, comfortable, helpful staff”
The staff helped me with everything from finding a restaurant to mapping my walking route to Northwestern. Front desk folks were very kind and helpful when I was worried about my shuttle arriving on time to get me to the airport.
“Conveniently located”
Our stay at HGI Evanston was great! It's located in a great neighborhood with great places to eat and shop nearby. Most importantly (for us), it's located a block from the train station. I would definately stay here again and would suggest it to friends or family who are planning a trip to the Chicago area.
“Very nice hotel”
Hotel was quite nice. Beds were comfortable and the location is great. We did a lot of walking around Evanston and everything was just a couple minute walk. The room doors were strange for a hotel -- they were like normal bedroom doors in a house, and so there was no sound insulation from the hall - we heard people loudly all night, and the doors were so light it seemed that a normal close sounded like a slam. Only other comment -- the staff at the registration desk, while efficient, could not seem to break a smile to be pleasant.
“Great hotel!”
I have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn several times since August. The rooms are a nice size and the beds are to die for!!! The front desk couldn't be more helpful. Stayed at the Orrington so was able to compare. I would not go back there. Rooms are too small. Great dinner in the hotel restaurant. Breakfast buffet was also very satisfying.
“Good location”
This hotel is conveniently located in Evanston, near restaurants, shops, and public transportation. The breakfast was great. We were disappointed though because the hot tub didn't work our entire stay there. The hotel did give us free breakfast though.
“Parking and Let's Say Half & Half”
Public garage parking, in the past was free or a nominal fee (around a buck) was charged on new years eve. The Hilton requested $13 a day to park in the same public garage. I would like to give the Hilton the benefit of a doubt, even though, we are former Evanstonians, we have not been there on News Years Eve in a couple of years. Things could have changed After our first night there, my wife and myself, got up the next morning to fix our selves a pot of the complementory coffee. My wife fixed my coffee black; no cream, no sugar. She fixed her coffee with both sugar and the creamer that had been lying next to the coffee pot when we initialy arrived the previous day. My wife poured the creamer into her cup and it immediately curdled. I looked at the used creamer and told my wife that this is half &half. Which means that half the content was dairy. Dairy products should be refrigerated and not left out at room temperture for god knows how long. We went down to explain what happen to the desk clerks. They both became instantanously defensive. "That couldn't have happened,"one exclaimed, "we only use non-dairy creamers." Fortunately, I kept the creamer that I didn't use. I handed it the clerk. Both their jaws dropped. They tried to muster a feeble apology. We left the hotel for breakfast. Upon our return housekeeping left two more half & half next to the coffee. We threw them in the trash can so that the next guest would not have to go thur with what we endured.
