Great location and we liked our room.

Cons: Improve the exiting of your garage with our room keys. Never worked.
My only complaint would be the exit to the parking ramp. We were supposed to be able to come and go with our car and that was not the case. It took us 45 minutes to get the bar code to read us out and this was after we went back up to the check-in desk for a new bar code because our room keys never worked to lift the garage arm to exit the garage.

Definitely not s 3.5 stars hotel more like 2.5

Ok experience we expected much more from a 3.5 stars hotel. We didn't have any info in our room about dining options or room service. The ice bucket was missing a lid the room itself seemed run down with wall paper peeling everywhere

Nice Hotel in downtown (Mart Plaza)

Pros: The staff was nice and helpful. Room were clean. Kids ate free at the Merchant Restaurant by the lobby.
Location: You can walk to some main attractions in Chicago. However, if you decide to take a taxi, because of the hotel's great location, you do not have to pay
It was very pleasant to stay at the Holiday Inn at the Mart Plaza in Chicago. From that location, you have easy access to Chicago's main attraction and transportation. Some place you can even walk to.

We had a great stay! We were upgraded to a corner room with a spectacular view, staff were all super nice, accomodating and helpful, great stay for our family! Thank you! We will stay there again on our next visit!

Great downtown Chicago hotel.

Pros: We found Holiday Inn Merch Mart to be very clean, spacious, good amenities and friendly.
Cons: Only change I would suggest is to be a mini fridge and micro in the room.
Location: Close to CTA line to get from Midway Airport to the hotel and the Mart.
Holiday Inn Merchandise Mart is in a great and convenient location downtown.

Security

My overall experience was very irritating to say the least. After a certain time, not only did security wait by the elevators to check room cards, but I was asked to show my room key everytime I went to my room. Then I had a guest to come and visit me, my guest couldn't come up to my room unless I added them to my room and gave them a room key to produce to security as well. It is not the problem of hotel guest that security can't find a more professional way to keep control over its guest. I will never stay here again because of this.

OK hotel. Great location.

Cons: Better room.
Overall the hotel is OK. It's on the upper half of a high-rise with great nighttime skyline views if you're room is facing the right direction. It can be a bit noisy (somewhat thin walls) and, unfortunately, the room I had was right across from the vending and ice machine. Also there is a building going up right next to this one and the construction level was at the exact same floor I was staying on so between the ice machine on one side and the construction on the other side it was pretty noisy even for someone who typically isn't bothered by outside noise. The location of the hotel was great. Walking distance to great food, the elevated train, etc. Hotel staff were courteous and quick.

Clean with a view

Pros: We liked the price, the location, the general atmosphere, and cleanliness.
Cons: General temperature in lobby area was too high, staff could be a bit curt however, we didn't feel it was too much an issue on the whole.
Location: The location was pretty ideal. It wasn't right in the downtown area but it was close to both sides of town we spent the majority of our time in.
My boyfriend and I traveled to Chicago during one of the busiest weekends one can be downtown but this wasn't really an issue for the hotel or its staff. Everyone on staff that we talked to gave clear information in a quick and efficient manner and we weren't hurried along despite the busy weekend, which was nice. We were on the top floor, and though the hotel is a bit warm overall, our actual room was a comfortable temperature. He and I were both blown away by the amazing view of the city that our room had and it greatly improved our enjoyment of the establishment. Seeing the skyline from day to night was pretty magical and if we stay here again, which we probably will, I'd request a room facing the city in a heartbeat. Our room and bathroom were very clean and at the end of the day when we made it back to rest, the surprisingly comfortable bed helped us get to sleep very quickly as did the quietness of the hotel after 11pm.

Unique location and bar. Very reasonable price.

Very clean and unique experience. We were to get breakfast delivered in the morning but nobody took the order off of the door. Other than that, we were very pleased.
