Clean, Quiet and Friendly

Posted Mar 29, 2015
Pros: cleanliness, quiet, great breakfast and light lunch items as well, staff was very helpful, lovely room.
Cons: Nothing
Location: On main Road, close to several restaurants, Shopping nearby, Great Lakes Naval Training Center only 3 miles away. Military warmly welcomed!!!
Clean room with very nice furnishings. Has quiet hours posted. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff and willing to help us find the Navy base, print directions for us and told us where there was a great Italian restaurant and good shopping. In the afternoon they had juice, cookies and sandwiches which is rare in the hotel business. .Awesome experience!!

Holiday Inn Express- Waukegan

Posted Mar 20, 2015
Pros: The main reason I choose Holiday Inn is because all the hotels use the same mattress thus making your night very comfortable and with no surprises.
Cons: Better showers
Location: Basic fast food restaurants and not far from other ammenties in the area such as Gurnee, IL. Much more to do in Gurnee.
I typically stay at Holiday Inn express when traveling. So as soon as I saw that there was a hotel close to my son's naval graduation, I immediately booked. I arrived early and was greeted by two very friendly woman who told me that I was too early for check in. The lobby was clean and sound and I expected at this point that the stay would be as always- A good night sleep and very comfortable bed. When my wife and I arrived, we were greeted by a young gentleman who was very rude to us and he had an air about him that did not make you feel comfortable. Our room was clean as expected and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is huge but it has an unusual shower that does not get hot, just warm. During the night, you hear everything as the walls are very thin. Thus making my night a very tiring night. I gave the hotel staff a 3 because the night manager was very nice to us and he joked a lot. The hotel even has a shuttle to pick people up to take them to the navy grad site and they offer a hot dog bar for families that come back to the hotel with their navy Graduate- I thought that was very nice.

Staff was excellent. Quick, helpful, pleasant. Rooms were very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Pool and hot tub ok, not up to par on cleanliness and jets in hot tub were non existent. Fitness center was nice. Overall a great stay for the money.

navy graduation

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: the staff and their service and being helpful and courteous and helping us with directions to restaurants
Cons: the couches and chair in the queen suites were too soft. needed a soap dish for the soap in bathroom
Location: about 4 miles from navy base, close to Walmart and restaurants and stores. Close to bowling alley (just behind the hotel) Close to Mcdonalds
We stayed there 2 nights for a navy graduation. They had free hot dogs and chips and snacks on Friday after the graduation for family members.. That was very wonderful because we were all hungry. The dining room attendant was excellent and went the extra mile to help us and meets our needs. His name was Alberto. The only issue that I have is that the couches in the queen suites were not that comfortable. The cushion sort of sunk down when you sat on them. The chair was also that way. Otherwise, we were very satisfied with the hotel and the staff. My son went swimming and he said the water was too cold and the hot tub was not working at the time. The breakfast buffet was very good also. I would stay there again!

Very nice hotel ! All employees were very friendly and accomodating including C.C. at the front Desk. Our room was very clean and comfortable, the jacuzzi tub was a great addition. The breakfast which was included with stay was more than I expected. Hot and cold breakfast sampling's and well stocked through the entire time.
