“Small issues, but still worth the stay”
Other reviews of this hotel had mentioned that the rooms were small. This is true (even with a king-size bed), but it didn't bother us since we weren't in the room much of the time. The only issues we had with the hotel were lack of a working fan in the bathroom, a noisy fan for the room's temperature control (the a/c seemed to come on more often then was necessary or wanted) and the location is several blocks from the closest train stations (a problem for someone with a foot injury). The hotel is also several blocks away from the Mag Mile. The hotel's description made it seem closer to the Mag Mile than it is, so this again was problematic for someone who is walking impaired. The lobby was beautiful and the doormen was all gracious and helpful. Overall, if I didn't have a foot injury, I would stay at this hotel again in the future.
“Hotel Felix rocks!”
Great location near Michigan and the Water Tower. Easy cab access. Many great hotels nearby, even walking distance. Nightlife on Rush/Division was fun and walkable in nice weather easily. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Efficient. Cute boutique hotel. Much nicer than big corporate places. Thoroughly enjoyed my 7 night stay!
“Not a 4 Star Hotel - More like 2.0”
Room was exceptionally cramped. "Closet" was an 8" pole sticking out of the wall. No drawers. Shower only with curtain. No place to set anything in bathroom. Windows were loose and rattled all night. Howard Johnson's, Best Western, Super 8, Comfort Inn have better rooms. Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn or any number of other options would have been an upgrade. All towels, drapes, materials throughout were exceptionally cheap and flimsy. This is a nightmare space for a business traveler and I can't imagine more than one person staying in a room. Very disappointing.
“"Calm Oasis"”
Hotel Felix was a lovely, stylish, soothing place to kick back after spending hours on and around the Magnificent Mile and the Art Institute. The location was convenient to shopping and cultural attractions, yet removed enough to provide a neighborhood feel unlike most hotels right off the Magnificent Mile. Our room was smallish but perfect, clean, and pretty with a good sized, very attractive bathroom. The staff was helpful and friendly. Would not hesitate a second about staying there again.
“Def a place to stay again and rec to others”
I had lived in the neighborhood two years before, it's a wonderful place - central to anything you'd like to see and do in Chicago (I was born there and lived there for many years) except you have to be careful of crime. Due to the Catholic Charities near by (and God bless what they are doing) there are quite a few aggressive, homeless men that roam the streets. I'm not saying they would put me off but as a visitor from somewhere other than the city or country you have to be quite stoic. (but I bought and sold a condo there so I love the hood) The Felix rooms are small but exceptional. Great views and clean and eco friendly. The staff was courteous and helpful and totally professional. The restaurant adjacent has the most delicious and moderately priced food for the value and presentation with a staff fully knowledgeable and top rate. We ate four meals there in four nights and I know a lot of great straunts in chitown but chose to eat there. Maid service was exceptional. Cabs are right outside your door but the fact that you can walk a few minutes to Michigan Avenue is such a prize. I want to got back. Very elegant and comfortable at the same time. When I was there a lot of children with adults had visited but it didn't seem to change their running a business like a clock with much aplomb.
“Hotel Felix”
The rooms are kinda small, but not in chicago to spend time in the room. Also, they have a very unique way of using the space, like providing drawers in the frame of bed. The food is very good and the people who work there are very friendly.
“good value for the price”
Cute boutique hotel at a good price point. Stylish and hip for the price point. Very good location as a business traveler. Room is comfortable though small. Low on high end amenties but very acceptable hotel. Only downside is that there is a large construction project being undertaken on thh back side of hotel and so noise levels are loud in the early AM. Ask for a street facing room! I
“Great location”
For our first trip to Chicago we choose this hotel because it said it was convienent to everything. And they were absolutely correct. We were within wlaking distance to everything downtown Chicago. Clean, neat, the staff was always willing and ready to help. When we go back to Chicago we will stay there again.
“Not overly impressed...”
Two of my girlfriend's and I went to Chicago for a short, last minute weekend getaway. I did book the hotel through Expedia since it was such short notice. When we arrived around 9pm on a Satuday we were told that our reservation was a Queen bed room. I booked this hotel for three nights for three people with two full size beds. They didn't try to accommadate this situation and didn't really seem to care at all. I would NEVER book a queen size bed for 3 people. They did nothing to accommadate and eventually did for the next two nights but I started my bday weekend celebration by trying to sleep on the floor in a corner because the room was very small. Other than this huge mistake the overall stay was a smidge above average.
“Not impressed”
It is not seem like a 4****
