Nice Hotel, close to a lot of sites

Posted Jul 23, 2015
I arrived around 1pm on Monday and the staff was so friendly as soon as I was getting out of the cab. I was excited to be in Chicago for the first time and they were able to accommodate with me early check in, so I would be able to get out and get my work started. Since it was my first time and perhaps I was overly excited they bumped me to a great room on the 7th floor with a little view as a welcome to Chicago. Every time I came and left everyone greeted me and asked me how my day was. I would recommend this hotel to friends and am going to ask my boss if on future business trips we would be able to make this our main hotel.

Nice hotel, great downtown location.

Pros: The beds are very comfortable.
I was unable to obtain a room where the conference I was attending was being held. I ended up at Hotel Felix, and I am glad I did. It was smaller and more cozy. The staff were very helpful and professional.

Pros: The spa on site. The unique layout and quaint rooms. The location! The bellboy Dion was very attentive!
Cons: See above. Also, the prices for massages were very high.
Location: River North is awesome! So many restaurants and bars, and a nice walk to Michigan Avenue
Just some suggestions: It would be valuable if the bathroom had more counter space. The closet was extremely small for 2 people to hold their clothes.

Perfect Location, but has a major flaw

Posted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: Location is fantastic!
Cons: Bathroom sink is too shallow. Update on HVAC system to something quieter.
To start off, I want to emphasize that the staff is extremely friendly and always available to offer assistance. The design of the hotel is fashionable and quite aesthetic. This brings me to my biggest issue with this hotel. The hotel seems to rely on aesthetics over function. The sink is extremely shallow, like 3 inches deep, which makes it somewhat annoying to wash your hands. The rooms are relatively small, but it's not a big deal since most people don't travel to hang out in a hotel room. My final issue is that the air conditioner is extremely loud when it turns on and off. It's loud enough that it sounds like someone opening the door at times. I'm a pretty deep-sleeper, and it woke me up a few times. With that said, the price is decent, especially for the location. Most of the major tourist attractions are within a 1.5 mile walking radius. If you want to go to the tourist attractions in the Magnificent Mile area, save your money and don't rent a car. Use city transit or Uber if you want to go somewhere away from the Magnificent Mile.

Not a 4-star hotel

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Location was pretty good. Staff was mostly nice but nothing extraordinary. Rooms were clean but nothing amazing.
Cons: - Size of the rooms (can you improve this?) - Upgrade rooms to 4-star standard - Add fridge and hot water machine
Location: Close to Whole Foods, lots of nice restaurants, Michigan avenue, the Navy pier. It is a nice 30 minutes walk to the Millennium Park.
I got the Felix Hotel using the Expedia feature that gives you discounted rates for hotels without telling you the name until you book. It was supposed to be a 4-star hotel comparable to Hyatt and Omni Hotels. Felix Hotel is nowhere near those. I will never use this feature again as I would have not chosen this hotel if I had known. At $180 a night (including tax), the price was definitely not a deal. I sent an email to the hotel to make sure we got a baby crib when we arrive. I was assured it was taken care of the same day. When we checked-in, no one could find this note and they eventually found a crib which was broken. We were put in a very tiny room and had to sleep with a baby in a queen size bed. We made it through the night and asked to change room the next day. We eventually got one of the largest room in the hotel which was still small but reasonable. We also got a working crib the next day. I would rate this hotel as a 3-star only if you can get a large room with king size bed. If you get one of the small room, it would be a 2-star at most. Note: There are no coffee or hot water machines in the room. No fridge neither. Staff was mostly nice but nothing extraordinary. Food at the "French" bistrot was overpriced and very disappointing. There are plenty of good food places around in Chicago so don't even try there.
