“Meh.”

It took quite a while for the airport shuttle to arrive. The hotel is actually about 15 minutes away. The hotel itself is nondescript. The hallways smelled like smoke but the room did smell clean. Hotel staff was not overly friendly. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay while you're stuck at the O'Hare airport I imagine there are worse places to stay.

“Great bang for buck”

I was amazed when I opened the door to my room. Spacious. Immaculate. The bathroom was as large as any I have ever seen even in hotels at three times the price. Not opulent but reasonable quality. Although close to the airport on a busy intersection, I enjoyed a quiet night's sleep. A/C kicked in and dropped the room temp probably 5 degrees in a half hour. There were a few small problems - timer on sunlamp in bathroom didn't shut off, had trouble getting the hair dryer back in its wall mount. but a great night's stay for amazingly low price - especially that close to O'Hare. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

“worse staff ever”

you may want to avoid this hotel; you cannot rely on staff nor shuttle. I almost missed my flight because of them. The time of shuttle was few times postponed, after all it hasn't appeared. I had to arrange for a taxi, pay for it and almost missed my flight. The receptionist also lied to other guests. The complimentary shuttle to and from the airport is not reliable at all. Staff is rude, which has never to happend to me in any hotel in US.

“PARENTS BEWARE! GAY PORN ON CHANNEL 32. Cockroaches in Room 240”

Many bad things happened at this hotel. The worst was our last day. We were channel surfing (with our 7 yr old in the room) and channel 32 was gay porn! No we did not order it, we just happened upon it while channel surfing. Terrible! Our first room was a disaster: leaky window, leaky tub and cockroaches. The next day I got some grief for wanting to change rooms. The front desk guy said he couldn't do it bc the computers were down. I asked him if there was anything he could do to start the process. At first he said no, but then it turned out all he had to do was look at a printout of all the available rooms. So basically he initially lied about not being able to change rooms and after I just stood there he then bothered to get me a new room; no computer needed. Our room keys needed updating a lot. When my husband asked for a new key they just asked for a name and room number. When I asked for a new key I was asked for my id, even though my husband never was. My husband is white and I'm not. I think it was racist and/or sexist to only ask me for id for a new room key and not my husband. The front desk was generally surly with me. We've stayed at a lot of La Quintas (once in Irvine for 2 months while my son had a medical treatment). Before Elk Grove, I thought La Quinta could generally be counted on for a decent room at a decent price. After staying at La Quinta in Elk Grove IL my opinion has definitely changed for the worse. Much worse.

Area recommendations
Woodfield Mall area. The Woodfield area La Quinta may be better!
Getting around
Traffic to/from Chicago proper is exponentially worse than when we were there 4 years ago. If you're going into the city don't drive; take public transit.
Family-friendly activities
Legoland Discovery Center. Great for young kids and conveniently located in Woodfield Mall area.

“What you pay for”

It's close to airport and inexpensive. Shuttle is free but not very reliable in terms of airport pick up especially at night. No frills. Room was clean but internet was down and had been for some time according to other guests.fitness room is a joke.

“Good Value”

The hotel staff was friendly from the time we arrived. The room was clean when we arrived, and the cleaning staff did a great job each day. Having the breakfast each morning included was a very good value. It was also great to have the free shuttle to the airport, where we could take the train into the city.

“clean and convenient to O'Hare”

I needed an inexpensive hotel near O'Hare Airport for a recent business trip. This is an older hotel but was clean and fit my needs for this trip.
