A characterful stay in an interesting locationPosted Oct 14, 2013
Pros: The Old Chicago Inn is not a hotel by any stretch of the imagination: it is a throw-back to the good old days of boarding houses.
Cons: You will either love or hate this place and it isn't going to change to suit you
Location: Variety of eating places within easy walking distance. The Inn offers a discount voucher on the karioke joint next door which has a quiet area at back
I wanted to visit a friend who lived in the neighbourhood but could not offer me my own room, so I booked the Old Chicago Inn on the basis of price and convenience rather than quality of the room. The location is ideal: less than a hundred yards to the L as well as served by buses. The inn is on the edge of Chicago's Boystown which is a very friendly area. I liked the quirky old-fashioned Inn from the moment I saw it and it made an ideal base for my long weekend in Chicago since getting downtown was extremely easy on the L.

6 blocks from WrigleyPosted Sep 23, 2013
Location: Wrigley field, CUBs game. Wrigleyville around the area, Clark Street which is off of Sheffield Ave has ton's of places to drink and eat at... Very Fun
The best part of staying at Old Chicago Inn was being in walking distance of everything, once you park your car, its parked for the time of your stay. The hotel cleanliness was very nice, accomindations were nice, with complimentry breakfast and $20 voucher to dinner 2 doors down at a cool restaurant. We stayed on the 2nd floor of the building, there are 3 levels, our room was the smallest room, barely in room to walk around within, our bed was pretty much our room. I also didn't like how we had to share our bathroom with the other 4 rooms in the hallway, a private bathroom would had been nice, which they do accomidate those in other bedrooms, I think mainly on the 3rd level. Overall, it was a great stay, the innkeeper David was a neat guy, very nice and always asking if we were comfortable. I slept great.

I thought the hotel was extremely overpriced and will never stay there again. The room was very small, as was the bed. The bathroom was down the hall and every door creaked as loudly as the floor. The speakeasy in the basement, that opens at 8PM was fun though

great value for the locationPosted Jul 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
stayed here for a concert at wrigley field. small room, but had our own bathroom.. although bathroom is in need of remodeling (cracked tile), it was clean. Innkeeper very attentive and provided us w/ service or info whenever we needed it. we'd stay again, but probably in one of the larger rooms that looked really nice.

Private bathroom means ...Posted Jul 4, 2013
Cons: Tear down the hundreds years old building & rebuild OR lower the price.
Location: Location is the best of the best.
I paid around $160/night. My room has a twin bed and was 1/2 size of typical hotel rooms. My private bathroom was NOT in my room. Both private and shared bathrooms are in hall ways (at least my floor was like that). However, Location was great. You can drink at night at Haltstead St. and walk back to your room by foot without having safety issues. The breakfast was very simple: banana, yogurt, coffee, orange juice, milk for coffee but not enough for cereal, energy bars, and home-made Granola Bars.

Just a place to sleepPosted Jul 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
It's just a place to sleep that is super convenient to Boystown. Otherwise, it was kinda dirty and sparse. Get a room with private bathroom...that makes it slightly more tolerable. Overall, just convenient and a place to sleep.

Location goodPosted Jun 27, 2013
Cons: Everything except Querky
This hotel is only for sleeping in great location to see Chicago. The price reflects standard of hotel as cheapest on a good location. If you like en suite ice machine or space look elsewhere
