“Cool place”

I loved everything about Public and Pump Room and Library . . . BUT . . . I wouldn't stay at the hotel again for two reasons: 1) ACHV system: loud, noisy, would wake me up throughout the night, and 2) the drapes are white, which are beautiful, but not blackout - when the sun comes up, the room is filled with light - even before you're ready to wake up.

Area recommendations
Public neighborhood is nice; streeterville is convenient; millenium park; gold coast

“Nice style but details missed”

Overall nice style. Renovation of old building attempts to update but keep some charm. Little things amiss, such as bathroom light that didn't work either before or after maintenance department visited. Tiny bathroom and shower. Staff seems young and new, which is fine and they'll get better. I'd stay there again over a generic chain hotel, but would be prepared going in that all the kinks aren't worked out yet.

“Steps Away from the City Lights!!!!”

This was a staycation that allowed us the opportunity to enjoy the nightlife, which was actually on the main floor of the hotel. It was great because we really didn't need to leave the premises to enjoy a good time. We also were steps away from the magnificent mile and rush street. Only drawback was the parking.

Comment from the hotel's management
We apologize that your experienced a few setbacks during your stay with us but as always, we have continued to improve since our opening. We hope that you, as a Chicago native, will visit us again sooner rather than later! Warm Regards,

“Unbelievable Value”

AESTHETICS: This hotel looks and feels like a 4-5 star, but costs far less than it's style competitors. The design throughout the entire place is very tasteful and understated (but still totally upscale-feeling), which is hard to find in a sea of gaudy, outdated hotels. FOOD: I would not necessarily recommend the Pump Room. Our food was sub-par and the music is quite loud, though we had a superb server. The "library" (lounge) is delightful for drinks. SERVICE: Also, the service is still working out the kinks of a new business. Some of the employees had contradictory things to say about restaurant reservation policies, which resulted in our party waiting over two hours for a table.

Comment from the hotel's management
Thank you for your great review! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and were able to take advantage of the property's location and all that we have to offer. We hope to welcome you back soon! Warm Regards,
