Four Day Getaway to Chicago - Blu Aqua:Good Choice

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Cons: The Filini Restaurant was disappointing, maybe the chef had a bad night, but the food was pretty bad. Car Parking is a pricy $61.00/night.
Location: Shedd Aquarium Millenium Park Michigan Avenue Navy Pier Giordano's Pizza Lakeshore Drive Art Museums
This modern hotel is located in a very good location for walkers and taxi-hoppers alike. In minutes we were in Millenium Park, Giordano's Pizza, or one of the many fabulous breakfast stops! Shopping on Michigan Avenue is a 5 minute walk and, if you're up to it, the Aquarium and Museums can be reached on foot in around 30 minutes. As for the hotel, the room was very well designed and room-to-room noises were minimal as a result of the hotel's somewhat staggered floorplan. The rooms were modern and somewhat minimalistic - almost too extreme, as most written literature had been converted to a TV-based search menu format. The separate tub and shower was spacious and well designed. The staff were among the friendliest and best I've met (especially in a major city): the check-in/check-out crew was very efficient, the conceirge was well informed and ready to book reservations upon request, and the valet crew quickly retrieved our car or a taxi when we needed it. Our four days went quickly, but we were refreshed and will very likely come back to this hotel. Oh, one more thing: If you're going to drive to the hotel and are unfamiliar with Chicago driving, be sure to get to the upper level of Wacker or Columbus because you'll never find the hotel on the lower levels (I know that by experience!)

Perfect on every front

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Design, comfort, liveliness
Cons: Slightly larger room
Location: Millenium park, Art Institute of Chicago, Willis Tower, River architecture cruise, Theater district...
The hotel is ideally located near numerous attractions, making it an ideal base. The architecture and decoration is of superior quality. The personnel is professional, helpful and friendly. The outdoor and indoor pools and deck are simply superb. A top choice and I would love to go back.

Great hotel in wonderful location

We took a taxi as we left the hotel. When we arrived at the train station, the taxi took off with our luggage. We did not know the taxi company or the taxi number and had paid with cash. Scott, the assistant manager at the Radisson, looked at the video footage from the security camera to find the information we needed. Our luggage will be delivered this morning!

Gorgeous hotel

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Pretty much everything
Cons: The area to check in is a bit cramped compared to the rest of the hotel.
In this case, you really do get what you pay for. The Radisson Aqua is an outstanding hotel in every aspect - beautiful lobby, gorgeous building, responsive staff, terrific bar / restaurant, pretty lobby, spectacular pool and gym, fast elevators, and amazing rooms that look and feel like apartments, with some of the most astonishing views of Chicago I've seen from anywhere else in the city. The hotel is also very conveniently located to Michigan Avenue as well as Millennium Park. The only problem is the expense - but in this case, it may be worth it.

Great place for a family downtown vacation

Posted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: Really liked the hotel staff which made checking in and out a breeze and very quick. They stored our luggage for the afternoon when we checked out.
Cons: Cheaper prices, but this is downtown chicago, after all.
Location: Close to the loop. Easy to get to the CTA. Divvy bikes are nearby. Good restaurants close.
We and the two early teen grandkids spent a couple of nights here to enjoy a short downtown Chicago vacation. Turned out to be a really good choice since the hotel was in a great location with a great staff and was more reasonable (not cheap!) than other nearby nice hotels. Parking was convenient -- pricey, like everywhere downtown -- and easy to self park. The room was a nice size, the beds queen and the view was pretty good. We stayed on the fourteenth floor facing the city; lake views cost extra. The hotel gym and two swimming pools were very nice and the two hot tubs were relaxing. Didn't eat at the hotel, but the restaurant looked nice. The building is very unique and distinctive.

Fabulous facilities

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Facilities, friendly staff, convenient location.
Cons: more information about the immediate area would have been helpful eg the quickest way to walk to the lakefront, but we could have asked the concierge
Location: About 10 mins walk to subway - we tended to get taxi to beach, museums etc (fare usually less than $10)
As a family of four (with sons aged 21 and 18), this hotel provided something for us all. We all enjoyed swimming in both the indoor and outdoor pools. The boys made good use of the gym each day, and also the basketball court. Husband and boys used the running track (300 m approx, and 'nicely sprung' according to them). And since I am an early riser, I would take a coffee and sit with my book on the sundeck each morning - very tranquil. Chicago is a great city but a city break at the height of summer would have been exhausting if we had not been able to relax here for a few hours each day - it made all the difference.
