Unfortunate visit for Naval Graduation

Posted Mar 22, 2015
This hotel was recommended in a naval brochure for my family to visit my brother for his Naval boot camp graduation. The hotel was the worse part of the trip. It is located in a gloomy area of Waukegan that could be considered sketchy at best. Walking through the halls to get to our room smelled like actual urine and feces. We actually had to locate a different route to our room that smelled less like pee. Our room door didn't open. It took two people and about 10 tries to get the door open on EACH occasion. Each door key also stopped working after about 12 hours. The carpet inside the room was so disgusting we kept our shoes on. The faucet water turned white when hot and the shower drain backed up when the water was on. Also one part of our carpet smelled like FECES. Disgusting. All complains given to the front desk were brushed off with a general "This is an old hotel." The pool was green and had major algae build up. It looked like a disease. Doors to leave the building only opened on occasion. The second night of our stay, there was a hotel party which we complained about but was not shut down until 5AM. Which is why I understood when two families in our party of 12 decided to leave after the first night. The only reason we had to stay is because we booked the room as a package with Expedia. The restaurant attached to the hotel is sad at best and continental breakfast was gross. My family and I will be back to the area many times but never here again.

Perfect location if you are attending graduation! It's not a bad hotel and they accomadated us nicely. Though, the hall ways and rooms need a little but more of an upgrade!

The overall stay was good. It was close to the Navy Base and that was a plus. It was very cold out and it took a while to get the room warmed up. My son wanted to get into the pool and the jacuzzi, but they were dirty. Other than that, they stay was enjoyable. They always cleaned our room while we were out! That is great service.

This hotel needs to be bulldozed.

Hallways were dark and drafty. Parking lot was unlit and insecure. Room was cleaned but in terrible condition. Doorjam broken, sink not draining and had a horrible musty odor. The water ran brown dirty water. Carpets were old and stained. We checked out immediately after checking in it was that bad. On the good side, the staff refunded our money and were apologetic and understanding.

Close to Naval graduation

Pros: There is a pool and jacuzzi, nicely heated.
Cons: It is clearly an older hotel and a bit in need of a facelift.
Location: Naval academy and Jelly Belly Factory
There is a shuttle from the hotel to the Naval graduation. Lots os military families stay here. Breakfast is decent. It was a good value.

Great Stay

Went to visit a friend that just graduated from BootCamp and had a great time. The hotel had a great breakfast and even opened an hour earlier in the morning the day of graduation. The staff was nice and attentive. Check in and out was a breeze because of Expedia.
