“Beautiful place to stay”

The Ruby Room was a lovely place to stay. Extremely clean and comfortable room. And the Wicker Park location was fantastic.

“Neighborhood feel in the big city!”

We loved our stay at the Ruby Room. We loved the feel of the space and the ease of booking, check-in and working with staff. We could easily pretend that we were Chicago residents with an apartment in the trendy Wicker Park area! Fantastic experience, excellent price. We will stay again!

We cannot say enough about our experience at the Ruby Room. We LOVED it. The room was great (my husband loved the steam shower), the location was great, the service was great, the spa was great............We will stay there everytime we go to Chicago in the future!

“Great alternative to downtown”

The Ruby Room is a really great hotel and we congratulated ourselves for picking a neighborhood (Wicker Park/Buck Town) location many times. The subway is located nearby so you can still get everywhere you want to go but you're out of the bustle and corporate-feel of downtown Chicago. There were great restaurants nearby and the Publican is about a mile away but is well worth the walk/taxi ride. The historic qualities of the area around the Ruby Room are still fairly intact which was great. You'll have to do without some services that come with a typical hotel (lobby, concierge, elevator and tv), if you're okay with that, then the Ruby Room is worth considering. My one complaint: to conserve resources hotels are increasingly only changing sheets and towels upon request and the Ruby Room follows this practice - it would be nice however if they would make the beds and straighten the towels without having to request that service every day.

“My Favorite Little Getaway”

I have been telling everyone that will listen how great the Ruby Room is. We will definitely be back. The room was so cute. The staff was great, and recomended the best breakfast place. The stairs were a little rough but we didn't care. The only thing I didn't like was there was no hand soap in the bathroom but that is only because I am majorly OCD lol. Great Place!

“Relaxing”

Loved no TV! Very clean room and extremely comfortable bed! If I had a complaint, it would be that the shower did not get very hot.

“Awesome”

Very very cool place and excellent location! Everything is walking distance. The blue line will take you directly to downtown. Staying in Wicker Park is so much more relaxing than busy downtown. Wicker Park is great for dining, bars, and shopping. Make sure you go to the Bongo Room for breakfast! If you're looking for a traditional hotel with lot's of personal service like bell hop, room service, etc, then this is not the place for you. If you're looking for privacy and no hotel staff in your face all the time, then this place is perfect! It's so private, you get a key and code for the building and a key to your room. It's very private and quiet. We loved staying here.

“A real gem.”

Yes, you'll have to climb up a steep staircase. There is no elevator. If you're lucky, you might have a room that you can access from the fire escape. But the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. There is no TV in the room, but you're in Chicago. There's too much to do to complain that you don't have a TV. My only complaint is that this place is billed as a bed & breakfast - I don't think they actually serve a breakfast, even a continental one!
