Booked this hotel for a week's stay by positive Expedia reviews and value for money, and was not disappointed. The rooms are well set out, neat, tidy with a small and handy kitchenette. In an area where many hotels were far more expensive, I thought the Residence Inn represented excellent value for money. Rooms were also a good size for one person. I contacted the hotel before arriving to request a room with a nice city view - thanks to Shaun for looking after me. Nice to receive excellent customer service. Would definitely return.

We stayed at this hotel in 2012 for a few nights (my son played football at Lake Forest College and this was close) and loved it. The rooms were getting older but the hotel staff was great and rooms always clean which is why we chose to stay there. Not to mention the great hot breakfast before heading home to Madison, WI in the morning!
There was a renovation in 2013 and the rates went above what I was willing to spend, so we changed rooms to another comparable hotel down the road for the 2013 football season. Once again this year we checked rates for the football season (we book for the whole season ahead of time if possible) and found the rates were back down to "reasonable". Since we loved the hotel, we re-booked for this year.
Saturday was our first stay since the renovation and we loved it! Our room now had a fireplace which was a great surprise! Normally we would love a fireplace but oddly enough the temp was about 75 out side and the air was more appropriate! There was also a new pull out modern couch which is the only reason I took off one star for comfort. The couch was a great new modern item but in reality, was not very comfortable to sit on and watch TV. Anyone else, would probably love it!
All in all, the renovation was great! I would definitely suggest staying here!

Traveling with my niece on what I termed an "adventure" is now a wonderful memory, thanks to the classy accommodations and the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. It was a weekend of firsts for me, but will not be my last visit to Chicago and this wonderful hotel.
