Nice hotel, nice rooms, beautiful lobby area. Great breakfast at in-hotel restaurant. Valet is expensive but I'm sure it's expensive everywhere.

Pros: Zentrale Lage!
Location: Essen, Einkaufen und Sehenswürdigkeiten, alles super erreichbar.
Zimmer ohne Aussicht, war nicht so schön. Sonst aber toll.

Hidden Gem in the Windy City

Posted Feb 24, 2015
The Silversmith is absolutely wonderful. It is in close proximity to the El Train and about a block away from "The Bean". The room was the epitome of comfort.

Nice modern hotel in great location

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Modern decor, comfortable bed, and closeness to all Chicago has to offer.
Cons: A pool or at least hot tub would be nice, but is what it is.
Location: Gold Coast, State Street, Rush Street, Millenium Park, Lincoln Park, Lake Michigan, Chicago Art Museum. Bus and El lines very close.
Had a very nice stay at the Silversmith. The lobby was very nice. Had an upscale modern look coming in with a nice bar and restaurant attached. Check in was fast and simple. Receptionist was pleasant and helpful. The room was great. Very comfortable. The king size bed was incredible and great pillows. Slept extremely well, which isn't always true in a hotel. The staff was very accommodating. Spent some time in the bar downstairs. The bartender Ryan was really cool and made us some specialty drinks that he personally came up with. Don't mind paying downtown Chicago prices for drinks when they're high quality and well made. The hotel itself is in a good location between Michigan and State street which means it's very close to shopping and restaurants and Millennium Park. Also, almost all the major bus lines and "el" lines run very near as well. We decided to go to the Wicker Park neighborhood for dinner and drinks it was a block and half walk to the el and a 15 min ride out there. We had a great time here. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel- great location

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: It was very clean- and even had a Keurig coffee machine! Single serve coffee and tea at a button! It also had a very nice TV.
Cons: I don't think the bed we had was a 'king' like advertised...it was the size of my queen bed at home but I didn't mind.
Location: So much to do nearby--not enough space! The hotel's website had a tab for "things to do" with great information on it. Parks, ice skating, museums...
This was my first time in Chicago and I couldn't have picked a better hotel myself. It is in the middle of everything and all within walking distance! Location is everything and this hotel has that. Great restaurants just seconds from the door. (Highly recommend The Corner Bakery and Vaprino--the Italian restaurant just steps away). The lady at the front recommended valet parking-- but at $56+ a day/overnight ...that was a bit out of our price range. My only issue was the parking situation because we rented a car--it's EXPENSIVE. If you google 'cheap parking in Chicago' though we found a lot that only charged $25/for 24 hours--the best deal yet. I was a little upset that the woman at the desk of the hotel had not mentioned this, seeing how she VERY WELL KNEW THE AREA because she in fact WORKS and lives there. I understand upselling and the fact that she is supposed to offer valet, but withholding information about good priced parking made me very sour towards this hotel. I would have rather had an honest hotel, not one looking to make money at every and any opportunity. Otherwise, it is a beautiful hotel- very safe and secure- and minutes from anything worth doing/seeing.

very convenient to downtown loop and business area, but if you are driving parking is not easy. Great atmosphere!

Perfect Valentine's Day

Posted Feb 16, 2015
The staff was friendly - they quickly brought a corkscrew to the room when we needed it - and they left us a surprise hand-written note with chocolate-dipped strawberries when we got back from dinner. The room was beautiful, bathroom huge and clean, and the bed was perfect. Definitely worth the extra $$$.

Great stay!

A very nice hotel in the heart of chicago. Very close to most of the greatest attractions and activities Chicao has to offer. Very spacious rooms (premium room) for reasonable prices. Nice staff and nice restaurant (great chicken!) We were on the 10th floor facing the metro. You could hear it slightly but not annoying at all. I would guess though, that the closed to the street your room is (lower levels) the louder the noise gets. This is really the only contra I could find. But all in all a great place to stay for a great experience for a good price! Thank you!

perfect base in chicago

My 3rd trip to Chicago but first in the Silvermith. Really nice, clean modern hotel with comfy beds! I was on the 10th floor and room was quiet to help with a good nights sleep. Will return to the Silversmith if I ever go back to Chicago!
