“My kind of town”
restaurant recommendation for Italian Food "Voilari" was dissappointing. Olive Garden would have been a better choice, especially considering all the fantastic restaurants in Chicago. Cherelle at the front desk upon check-in was awesome. It was my Birthday celebration and we were given a corner room that was beyond wonderful slept like a baby in the super comfy bed! The view of the park and Lake Michigan as well as Navy were breathtaking, especially at night. The Goodman theatre "A Christmas Carol" was very enjoyable Shopping..well what can I say? Packed a lot of things into 1-1/2 days . Can't wait to visit again!
“Disappointed”
My company's credit card covered all 3 nights of my stay, but because it then 'maxed out' and Swissotel could not charge the parking and one room service to the card, they locked out my room, did not clean it the last night of my stay. I arrived back to the room after a 12 hour work day, and it took 3 attempts for the room to get unlocked, and of course I covered the rest of my expense on a personal card, but too late to have the dirty towels picked up. As an aside, there were dirt smudges on the pillow coverings. Gross.
“Big disappointment”
Halfway through our stay, the hotel began a lobby renovation that made it a maze to manuever through. No warning. Despite three requests, hotel failed to coordinate our sequential reservations and we had people walk into our room one evening. In room dining very expensive. Discolored grout. Generally disappointing. Nice view but location is very isolated from shops and restaurants.
“nice hotel for the money”
The person who checked me in was rude. However, the room service was great and the fitness facility and pool was great.
“Bright Lights in the BIg City!!!!!”
The Swissotel Chicago has a Great view of the city! The rooms were nice and clean and the robes were soooooooooooo.... cozy. The staff was pleasant and very welcoming to children. We would stay here again!
“amazing view and location”
everything i expected!
“Weekend Birthday Extravaganza”
Unbelievable views of the city of CHICAGO!!! Warm, welcoming hot tub, pool and fitness area. Delicious buffet breakfast within hotel or very easy restaurants and sites within walking distance. River walk phenomenal! Great way to celebrate a special 11/11/11 b-day!
“Very convenient to shopping and other activities.”
Overall I liked the room very much. The view of Navy Pier at night was fantastic and the lake at sunrise was absolutely beautiful. The service during check-in was very friendly and efficient in spite of the long line. One of the staff at checkout ignored me until I started to move toward someone else for help. Had that not happened I would have given hotel service a 5. We ate at the Palms restaurant in the hotel and the food was very good as was the service. We made last minute reservations and had no problem getting in. My only complaint was the door in the bathroom had a ledge that was dirty. I cleaned it because it really irritates me to see dust and dirt like this. Also, there was something left on the bathroom counter that needed to cleaned. It looked like residue from a cleaning or soap product so i wiped it up but it shouldn't have been there in the first place. The bathroom overall needs some updating. Would we come back? Sure. It was worth staying there for the comfort of the bed and the view alone.
“Wonderful hotel!!!”
I would definitely stay there again. The location couldn't be better and the views were amazing. We had 2 rooms. Our adult boys had a basic room and we upgraded for a lakeview room. I thought their view was just as good as ours. The concierge Bernard was super helpful. One morning, I just asked him for directions to the Yolk (for breakfast), he told me to give them his card. There was over an hour wait, but his card got us right in!
“Chicago's Best Hotel”
I stayed at this hotel for a business conference that was two doors down at a neighboring hotel, and was absolutely impressed with everything from the view, to the comfort, to the price! Upon check-in, I asked if it was possible to get a lakeview room, and was instantly upgraded to the most beautiful view overlooking the Navy Pier (free of charge!). The beds were fabulous, the room impeccable, and the bathroom spacious and beautiful (not to mention the BEST shower head--it felt like a really warm waterfall!!). The staff was ever present and ready to please, and we were able to save $70 over the rooms at the actual conference hotel, which had no view to speak of. Besides all of this, the hotel was located just blocks away from downtown Chicago, and we were able to walk nearly everywhere we wished to go. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel, and when I return on pleasure next time (because I WILL be returning), I will definitely be returning to this hotel. On a side note, I have traveled to several large cities across the US, and have to say this one was full of some of the nicest people!!! Even walking on the streets, people were kind and did not mind chatting for a moment or giving directions, or even taking snapshots for us. I can't say enough about this town, but will absolutely be returning to enjoy more down time there!!!
