Pros: Location
Cons: Non mouldy fruit in breakfast fruit bowl
Great location for exploring. Food was ok. Hotel remedied wrong room assignment and we ended up staying another night.

Pros: Updated older grand hotel in convenient location.
Cons: Some street noise could still be heard on 9th floor along Michigan Ave side.
Spent 3 nights at the Drake over Labor Day weekend and was very glad with my selection. Had visited the hotel bar on a few prior trips and was pleased to see it offered.

Location is good.

The head board was squeaky. The bathroom door was so old that my son couldn't open it very easily. Room was clean but not my style. Too old.

An old big hotel

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Courtesy , renovation
Broken sink, old bathroom, carpets from 50's, none of staff open the door for you even when you have heavy luggage, no one says hello when you come and go, there are many steps from the street level to receptionist desk, big rooms, retired noisy bed, very old fashion, the door of all rooms slump very loudly and continuously good luck getting sleep, thin walls, be careful when you make out, 13$/day Internet charges and they don't honor and don't offer free Internet to Hiltoon members/customers either. This hotel is a part of Hilton chain! With this price, you could have a much better deal.

Very nice and beautiful hotel!

Location: Walking along Michigan Ave is a must, but don't miss Rush St. nearby, with it's flowers and good restaurants.
We loved our stay at The Drake! Nice hotel, beautiful room, good restaurant and Lavazza Coffee in the lobby.

Good if you get a DEAL

Pros: Nice door staff (but did not offer to take my luggage!) Good location.
Cons: Bartenders and food.
Location: John Hancock building very close with a great view from the top.
The entrance is a three story stairway - very old school. Don't bother eating or drinking there, they advertise a "basil lemonade martini" on each table, but did not have lemonade nor basil and gave me a glass of vodka and lemon juice. I almost puckered to death. Then asked for a cosmo and while the menu states GREY GOOSE Citron, Triple Sec and Cranberry. I got well vodka, the same lemon juice and cran with a dash of triple sec. AWFUL, I did not know you could mess up a cosmo. Just skip the bar. The Cap Cod dining room is interesting, the wait staff great. The food very ordinary, and they "didnt' like the smell of the lobster" so did not serve it, but I could still get it in the mac and cheese!!!!???? For a "fresh daily" the seafood was quite bland - trout that was salmon (said it was some kind of half breed???) Really? For hundreds $80 we shared an app and entre and both had salad, would have been just as good at Red Lobster and had better bread. Our room, a queen, was down a tiny hallway overlooking the fire escape. Comfy bed and nice and clean, but not what was shown on the website. I won't be back, unless it's $50 a night, about right for the room and high cost (coffe at $9) 2 oz room bar gin $10. Yeah - not that good.

nice location and atmoshere

We really enjoyed our stay in Chicago and found the location and the feeling off the history of the drake very appealing. The staff were all very nice. The only problem was the hotels policy for check in and check out. We arrived early and did not think our rooms would be ready and they were not. They then proceeded to tell us it could be available for a fee of 25 dollars. Then on the night before we were to check out I asked if we could get a late check out, but they said the hotel was all booked for the next day and it would not be possible. In the morning I asked how much it would be to stay in our room until 6 because we had a late flight, we were then told for 75 dollars we could stay in our room. All of the sudden they did not need our room. These two events just did not sit well. But overall our stay was great.
