“Great hotel”
The Palmer House is the perfect place to stay in Chicago!
“No choice for food-allergic people.”
Unfortunately, the bar does not have many non-alcoholic drinks, and the few they have are not particularly good. Also, they only serve popcorns with the drinks: no olives, or pretzels, or chips, or peanuts, just to show that they don't care much about their customers. For breakfast, choices for celiacs are practically non-existent. It seems that the hotel still have to discover that there are people with milk or gluten allergies.
“First-Time Chicago Visit, First-Rate Hotel”
The hotel was amazing! Close to the major attractions (no more than $10 one-way for a 4-person cab ride, and walking distance to the Art Institute), the Palmer House was centrally located to most notable restaurants and hot spots. The staff was always asking how they could make the stay more pleasurable, and I highly recommend making a reservation for High Tea in the beautiful lobby and reception area (served between 2:00 and 4:00 pm, but reserve the previous day to ensure availability). The free Internet was fast and the indoor pool was warm. For a first-time visitor, like myself and my family, this was a great hotel, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fantastic stay. It was worth every penny!
“Great Deal on a Great Hotel”
The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of the Art Institute, Millennium Park, and Macy's. It is also right next to a subway and train station. We used the train station quite a bit during our stay, so that was nice. Our room had a king size bed and was very cozy (i.e. small) but it was comfortable. There was a small desk with two AC outlets built into the lamp which was convenient for charging both of our phones. A very nice touch. The room appeared to have been renovated recently and looked great. The staff was very friendly. There was a prom and then a wedding held in the main ballroom while we were there, so it was interesting seeing a mix of people dressed down (tourists?) and dressed up (party people). Only negatives: The bathtub had been relined which felt a little weird. It seemed that the lining did not fit perfectly into the tub so that it felt both wobbly and solid at the same time. Also, the hot and cold water were mixed up in the tub, but we adjusted. We would definitely stay here again, especially with the deal we got through Expedia.
“Fantastic location”
This is a beautiful historic hotel in the heart of Chicago. It is a very short walk to the Art Institute of Chicago and to Millenium Park. My only complaint is that they should include internet access in the rooms. They can charge a little more if necessary, but internet access should be a standard feature at this point.
“nice weekened”
The parking at $62.00/night was very expensive. We stayed on 23rd floor, and were told about the afernoon snack and drink. It was alright, but we were not told that drinks were extra, and very over priced. At least one cocktail should have been covered.
“a positive experience”
wonderful experience. A lively, happening place. I have already recommended the Palmer House to Friends and relatives. Couldn't have been better.
“Great experience!”
Palmer House was a beautiful hotel full of interesting history! We were astonished when we walked into the gorgeous lobby because the price was so right. The staff was very helpful and kind. The room was perfect for what we needed. Our kids enjoyed the pool. We couldn't have been happier with our stay!
