Great hotel pretty close to Amphitheatre

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Stayed at this hotel when we came in from out of town to see the Oddball Comedy Festival at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. The room was a great size with a comfy king bed and the typical room amenities (desk, decent sized tv, nightstands, dresser, etc) along with a nice lounger chair and ottoman along with a mini fridge & microwave. Nice surprise. Seems like a lot of these hotels don't bother with those things anymore. The bathroom was nice with plenty of counterspace for your toiletries and extra. Shower was good. The showerhead had different settings some of which were not that pleasant but still it's nice to have options I guess. The shower might not be the best for a really tall person since the showerhead was kind of low but it was fine for us. The pool was small but nice especially if you're alone along with the whirlpool but heavily chlorinated. The workout room seemed nice though I did not use it. Breakfast was decent. Sausage, pre-made omelets, make-your-own waffles, oatmeal along with cereal, muffins, toast, english muffins, etc. Juice and decent coffee. Not the best, not the worst. The water wall in the lobby is neat. The staff was pretty good. They let me check in an hour early which was helpful. Not particularly friendly but they were competent. Housekeeping seemed annoyed with the noon checkout which is great for me but probably annoying to housekeeping who is trying to stay of top of cleaning rooms. All & all though, I'd recommend this hotel.

Weight room with no weights

Workout room had no free weights, the tv did not work and only 1 treadmill was working, otherwise a good experience.

Great value and location for concert amphitheatre

Good, clean hotel, very nice breakfast, close to restaurants and shops. constant supply of taxis, not far from metra station but will need a taxi due to lack of sidewalks to the area, or just drive there!

One night for the concert

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Cons: breakfast
Location: very close to concert venue and eateries
Room was clean, spacious and well kept. Staff was friendly and very helpful, offering coupon for nearby restaurant. Quiet and comfortable beds. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Not great selection, no plain cream cheese for bagel, scrambled eggs were crumbly and tasteless, sausage was dry. Otherwise great stay.

Room Maintenance/Front Desk Staff Need Attention

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Pros: The location is very good and the breakfast was very filling. The breakfast area staff member was very sweet & asked if we needed anything else.
Cons: Housekeeping needs monitoring to make certain that they're not just doing a cursory job. The desk staff needs an in-service on customer service.
Our check-in process was swift and the person at the desk was very pleasant. When we got to our room, things appeared to be fine, but after spending a night there and returning the next evening, we found that while the toilet had been sanitized, the nightstand hadn't been touched (dirty glass still there). I really try to do my best to return all cups/glassware to the appropriate area, but this one time we didn't. We didn't think that would mean that it wouldn't be cleaned. Also, when looking for plugs, we found a pair of earbuds next to the chair, near the wall. It was evident that the room had not been properly vacuumed in a while. There was also a coffee stir stick left in a glass on top of the microwave area. I'm not sure why she left us a stir stick when they're usually in sealed packets. It was just odd. As to the staff, when we returned the first night, the desk clerk was on the phone and told us "Just a minute" and then walked to the back. NINE minutes later (really...I timed it), after we heard his entire conversation to someone letting them know that a female staff member was "gonna start something tomorrow because she was making lists", he returned to help. The next night when we approached the desk, he was on the phone again and didn't even bother to make eye contact. We went upstairs to call and ask when checkout was (since that's the only way to communicate with him evidently). One or two bad staffers don't ruin a hotel, but we won't be returning to this one.
