Nice relief from the tour groups at Chichen Itza
Posted Jan 13, 2013
This is a very nice, although pricey, place to stay within easy walking distance of the ruins at Chichen Itza. The setting of the hotel itself is beautiful with lovely plantings and a good restaurant. Rooms are set in bungalows at some remove from the dining and reception areas. They are spacious, well-appointed, with excellent air conditioning, ceiling fans, and windows that open to catch the breeze. There were three things that detracted from the hotel's otherwise fine quality: 1) some of the room's window locks were broken so that windows could not be secured; 2) while there was supposed to be wifi in the bar area, though not in the rooms, it did NOT connect to the internet; 3) at check-in, the receptionist took quite a long time describing spa treatments that one could buy and it meant having to wait quite a while for one's turn to check in while spa arrangements were being discussed by parties ahead in line, so the wait to check in was quite protracted. There was no other staff to assist with check in - just one person.

The Hacienda is charming and the tropical gardens that surround it are enchanting. We found the staff to be helpful and accommodating.

Lovely grounds not very welcoming staff
Posted Jan 27, 2013
Pros: The beautiful grounds and its history the porch with hammock
Cons: The unfriendly staff and toilet
Location: Good location close to the ruins
The hotel and grounds are lovely. Situated a very short walk from the Maya Ruins of Chichen Itza a great location for exploring the ruins. The staff were not friendly. Seemed snobby to us. Always looking for tips. They continually added the service of 15% to our bills. The room was lovely except it was like living in a lavertory as the walls of the bathroom do not go to the ceiling. The toilet noises carry through the room. In a very expensive hotel I did not expect this. The restaurant meals were excellent as we're the Mexican band who played for us, they were very friendly to us. If I returned to Chichen Itza I would probably stay at Mayaland hotel

Luxury and style
Posted Jan 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
Staying at Hacienda Chichen was like living the luxury of style and service from pre-WW2 movies. On top of that, the restaurant was delectable, with tables either in stately rooms or a covered terrace facing the grounds.

Book at your own peril...
Posted Jan 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
I stayed here for just one night. All seemed great when I arrived. Beautiful surroundings, and only a stones throw from Chichen Itza. Yet, there was no phone in the room - therefore no room service. No in-room TV. The shower dribbled. The pool was freezing. The extremely slow WiFi Internet access was only available for 10 feet near the bar, and didn't work at all in the evening! Any advertised spa prices were in dollars, but there were hidden additional charges... and if you tried to pay in dollars you were ripped off by ridiculous exchange rate. Even when trying to leave the hotel, the taxi arrived 20 mins late (despite being booked 24 hrs earlier - normal for Mexico, I guess), then took me to a bus that the hotel owner claimed to exist... yet didn't!?! Getting back to Cancun airport was like being in "Hangover 3" - an adventure I never wish to repeat on any level. -- Book at your own peril... unless you have all-inclusive transfers and money to burn.

Authentic Colonial Hacienda

Like stepping back into time. Total escape from hectic modern day life yet with excellent conveniences. Experience both Colonial and Mayan culture . Star lit skies , noiseless nights , awake to the sounds of tropical birds . Excellent restaurant . Pleasant short walk to ruins . Absolutely the best place to stay if you want to see Chichen Itza !!!

Very pleased with my choice

Beautiful, lush, park like setting, large pool. Close walking distance to Chichen Itza, very helpful and friendly staff. I was travelling by myself, arrived late (7pm) they still organized a guide for me to meet me net morning at 8am at Chichen Itza. I also had two excellent dinners at the hotel restaurant. And enjoyed a wonderful massage and body wrap at their spa.
