“The only way to see Chichen Itza!”

What a fantastic hotel in a unique and beautiful location. Being able to walk right into the ruins early and then relax in one of the beautiful pools during the heat of the day, avoiding the crowds, and then see the nightly light show would be reasons enough to stay at Mayaland. But the grounds, walking paths through the flowering jungle, great rooms (we were upgraded to a jacuzzi suite), and outstanding restaraunt were even better than I had thought! We'll definitely go back again!

“Wonderful, Enchanting and Relaxing Place”

This was our second trip to this wonder, enchanting and relaxing little hotel. We stayed in the bungaloes that have private pools. The hotel staff is great as is the food at the restaurant. If you are looking to get away from the crowds in Cancun, this is the place. You can avoid the crowds of day trippers from Cancun by getting to the ruins of Chichen Itza before the arrive and you can also see the light and sound show at night that comes free with your admission to the ruins. Totally tranquility is what you get here - not light or sound pollution. The view of the stars at night is unsurpassed. Fantastic stay!!!

“One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had”

This hotel was a gem. We stayed in one of the bungalows, and it was very nice. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The beds were just right for me (firm, but definitely not hard). The bathroom was huge and the shaded front porch with hammock was a perfect place to relax during the heat of the day with a good book. We had a great pool that we shared with 2 other bungalows. The hotel grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. The private entrance to Chichen Itza alone is worth the price. The bar served great margarita's and all of the hotel staff we dealt with were courteous, attentive and very pleasant. The only thing I can't rave about was the food, which was still quite good, but their attempts at gourmet cuisine fell somewhat short. Their local ethnic foods were outstanding though.

“Great place to stay while visiting Chichen Itza”

Nice clean hotel with immaculate grounds, nice pool with free pool towels for guests. Service was great, nice lunch time buffet. Ideal for visiting chichen as hotel has it's own entrance to site. Would definitely stay here again.

“Beautiful”

The only thing they don't have is a phone, but when you are coming here, who wants a phone?? This hotel is one of the more beautiful places I've been. It is an old Hacienda, that is mere feet from the ruins. The grounds embrace the beauty of the surrounding jungle. Its definitely the best Hotel around!

“Local to Archeological site. Very comfortablle, swimming, etc.”

Loved it. not a central location. One of the nicest places I have stayed anywhere. Hot country, breezes at night, shady trees, swimming in daytime and early evening.

“Mayaland”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mayaland and would recommend this to anyone who is planning to visit Chichen Itza. It is 'inside' the architectural zone and is the absolute closest place one can stay whilst visiting. Our end unit in the Bungalow was amazing with thatched roof, jacuzzi tub, stained glass windows, 4 poster bed and beautiful porch. The pool was just a few steps away. The entire estate is well kept and staffed with the friendliest people. Many of them are long time employees which speaks to the management style, which is in it's third generation. Our only regret is that we did not get to meet Don Fernando himself! don Fernando Barbachano Herrero you see, is the grandson of the founder and keeping the family business in fine form for all to enjoy. We would love the opportunity to return!
