“Great hotel to end trip to New Zealand”
We took a major trip from Honolulu to Sydney, and then New Zealand, total of 12 days/nights and 6 hotels. This was the last hotel we stayed in prior to flying out of Christchurch to Honolulu. Let me tell you, after 9 days in 5 hotels, and over 1200km of driving, I was very pleased to spend our family's last night here at Copthorne Hotel. Although it's a little older hotel, it has been well maintained and keeps a resort feel in the busyness of Christchurch. We had a relaxing time at the gym and the pool. My nearly 3 year old loved the jacuzzi and pool (and tired her out). We ate at the hotel restaurant because I turned in the rental car early (and had the hotel pick me up from the airport!). I am not a big fan of hotel restaurants, but we were quite pleased with the "meat lover's" pizza we had. My wife had the salmon, which was bland, so avoid that. Finally we retired to a nice clean and comfortable room. The next morning we checked out in a few minutes and they wisked us away to the airport. Being that it's 3 minutes away from the airport, we maximized our sleep and rest for the long flight back. Terrific ending, and we would absolutely do this again if we come back.
“great airport hotel”
Great airport hotel...convenient with good shuttle service. The only downside was no other restaurants or fast food places in the area. Otherwise quite room with comfortable beds and free internet access.
“Good Choice, Close to the Airport”
We had stayed at the Commodore during our first trip to NZ and picked it again for the night before we left. It is convient to the airport for early morning flights. They even carry US Pro football playoffs on their TV as many of the US crew members from the south pole stay there. The last trip we had a business level room and this time a "superior" king. The earlier was significantly upgraded over this one but also significantly more expensive. While showing its age, the room was spacious, clean, quiet and the bed VERY comfortable. Well worth the Expedia price considering the location. We found the restaurant menu on the expensive side and there aren't any other options close if you don't have a car. Refrigerator in room; bring some snacks and something for breakfast.
