Economy Suite for an Economy Price (YGWYPF)

Posted Mar 19, 2015
Pros: Comfortable beds, clean rooms, friendly staff, convenient location. Free juice/coffee 24/7. Reasonable price.
Cons: Breakfast could have more variety. Nice to have a refrigerator, hair dryer in all the rooms.
Location: Shopping mall, movie theater, restaurants, Virginia Tech.
I selected this hotel as a reasonably-priced central meeting place to stay and meet with family. My hope was since it was advertised as suites that there would be plenty of space in the room to sit and visit with 4-6 family members, play games, and enjoy each other's company. Unfortunately, since I booked a room with two queen beds (to handle all the family members) there was no room in the room for a sofa, coffee table, etc. (normally expected suite furniture). So we had to move to the lobby in order to have room for any activities (other than laying in the bed and watching TV). I was also expecting to have a refrigerator in the room, but there was not one, even though there was a space in the room and what appeared to be an electrical socket intended for one. Lesson learned: read the online room descriptions thoroughly and do not rely solely on pictures. The hotel is perched above a major highway and the entire back side is facing the road so expect road noise if you get a room on the back side. We were on the third floor in the back so there was nothing blocking the noise; it was noticeable but not so bad to keep us awake at night. The hotel itself was very quiet: no loud or rowdy guests. The continental breakfast was very underwhelming, mostly bread (bagels, pastry, cereal), some fruit, and yogurt. I've gotten better at other local hotels that operate in the same price range. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to a friend as a back-up to some of the other local hotels.

Inexpensive, acceptable, place to stay.

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Pros: Inexpensive, pleasant staff
Cons: Breakfast and room cleaning
Location: Near Virginia Tech
No microwave or refrigerator. Room seemed old, but acceptable. Breakfast was bare minimum. However, AARP rate was very low, especially for area.

Hotel close to VA Tech

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: Proximity to VA Tech and price
Cons: Cleanliness
Stayed there for an event at VA Tech. The hotel was close but overall disappointing. Every door had no smoking signs yet it smelled like everyone who stayed there ignored them.

Pleasantly surprised by the room- clean and comfortable. Great choices for continental breakfast. Staff friendly and professional. Exactly what we needed for a quick overnight stay. Would stay again if in the area.

Nice hotel closed to VT

If you need a family vacation to look at VT campus, this is a great place to stay overnight. Only about 10 mins away from VT, very closed to restaurants

Wasn't perfect, but it was inexpensive

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: Staff, breakfast
Cons: Please remove mildew from showers/tubs - it doesn't require much effort.
Comfy bed, room looked clean except for obvious mildew problem along base of shower where caulk was missing. AC unit did not seem to be keeping accurate temperature. Also had one or two lights out. I liked the staff, though, and the parking situation was good, as was breakfast.
