“Family fun”

Enjoyable and comfortable stay and the view was amazing. Not a high end fancy resort but very enjoyable and charming- I would suggest asking for a room with it's own personal patio space. Ours was a shared space and we would have probalby enjoyed our evenings more if the area was for our own personal use.

“Good for view.”

The place has an amazing view. You HAVE to take the bus from Riomaggiore to get to the hotel. If not, you walk 3-4km uphill on a main road/hwy (no sidewalks). The bus stops right at the hotel. The major inconvenience was having to depend on the bus to get to/from the hotel. The rooms were bare and simple. Unfortunately, our a/c in our room didn't work very well and we weren't able to open our door at night b/c of the swarm of moths that were present b/c we weren't allowed to turn off our porch light. The surrounding area is nice and the view is amazing amazing. There is a local bar/restaurant literally next door that is great to catch a snack or dinner if you don't feel like going into town. There is nothing else around the hotel but the one bar/restaurant. The staff was nice. Very simple and will work if you can't find something in town. The tranquility and peacefulness of the place was also nice.

“Far from town”

Would only recommend this hotel to those with their own transportation and either traveling lightly or with young backs. Was not what we thought we were getting. "Hotel" is actually a series of rooms on a hillside. There is a 10 minute bus ride that takes you to and from town. Otherwise, it would be at least a 45 minute walk on a steep incline. Bus only arrives 6 times in a day, the last being around 8:00 pm, making it difficult to stay out late. In addition the bus schedule is confusing and the bus driver is a jerk. Staff was very helpful, but had to hike down nearly 200 steps schlepping heavy luggage to reach our room. Found the room clean. View was wonderful. Very high up. Restaurant was very good as well. The transportation was the biggest issue for us. If we could do it again, we would definitely stay in town. Again, would only recommend this "hotel" if you have your own transportation and don't mind carrying your luggage up and down a considerable amount of stairs!

“Not Impressed - Poor Value for Money”

Highly recommend NOT staying at this hotel. While I can laugh about my experience now, I still would hate to see anyone waste their money by staying there. The only two things this hotel had going for it was the new hair dryer in the bathroom and the view of the ocean. However it was hard for us to enjoy the ocean view from your room because our room didn’t have any windows. After complaining, the staff informed us we had a private garden with our room to enjoy the view. She didn’t seem to think it was a problem when I pointed out that our private garden was located next to the hotel garbage dump. From this point forward my friend and I referred to our room as “the cave” or “jail cell”. To add insult to injury, our room was located about 300 steps down a mountain side with no assistance offered by the hotel staff to help us with our bags. It took 20 minutes to lug our bags down the hill and 45 minutes to lug them back up – in the hot Italian sun. Only to find out the hotel does have a luggage railway, however, you have to book it a day in advance! If you’re looking for a place with rude staff, cardio workout with our luggage, a jail cell sleeping experience and view of the ocean with the fragrance of garbage – you might like this place. Oh by the way, it’s in the middle of nowhere.
