“A little expensive, but still good value”

We were only in La Spezia as a means of getting to Cinque Terre, and we were travelling on a tight budget, so we were looking for the cheapest hotel we could get that didn't look too dodgy. This was the cheapest place we could find that had positive reviews, so we splurged a little and booked it... It was nice, clean, the front desk was very courteous and let us leave our bags with them for a few hours before we checked in, breakfast was great, and there was free internet, which we appreciated. It was very close to the train station, which made our lives easier finding the hotel and then finding our way back to the trains. I still feel that it's a little overpriced, given that we stayed at nicer places all throughout Italy (Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Venice, Amalfi, etc) for cheaper, but it seems as though this area is overpriced in general, so this is probably the best value you're going to get for your money.

The location was very convenient for taking the train to Cinque Terre and for walking to several restaurants in la Spezia. The rooms were basic, but clean and adequate. The owner, Claudia, and staff were friendly and helpful. The free parking is a pass to place inside the car allowing you to park on the street. Breakfast was very nice, much better than we anticipated

“Very Good Family Base for Cinque Terra”

We booked Mary after not being able to secure accommodation for family of four in one of the Cinque Terra towns. Although we were initially disappointed we could not secure accommodation closer we were very happy with our stay at Mary. With young children we appreciated the close location to the train station. Travel to and from Cinque Terra each day was just fine. We found La Spezia are great place to base ourselves for three nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we had was roomy by European standards.

The hotel is right across the road from the train station which is great for arrivals and departures and also for catching the train to Cinque Terra. We arrived on a Friday and walked into the main part of town which was alive with the markets and shops. It was also an easy walk to the port/harbour. The breakfast was good and staff were friendly and happy to help with a map and info of Cinque Terra. The room we stayed in was basic but comfortable and clean and my daughter was happy with the free internet access. We didn't hear the trains at all which was surprising as our room fronted the station.

“No frills, but very convenient”

This is a bear bones hotel that is very conveniently located for those interested in heading to Cinque Terre and moving on quickly from there to other parts of Italy.

Located close to the train station making it easy to catch trains to Cinque Terre. The hotel was within walking distance of restaurants and shopping but the immediate area was not great, especially at night.

“Gets the job done”

Hotel Mary is RIGHT across the street from the La Spezia train station, so you can't say it isn't convenient. Surprisingly, it wasn't too loud, either - we could barely hear any traffic noise even though our room faced the street and station (we were on the fifth floor). Breakfast was good, and the staff was nice, but otherwise, it's a completely utilitarian hotel for people who plan to sleep, get up and go straight to the Cinque Terre and stay out until they are ready for bed again.

Not impressed. The hotel was close to the train station. The neighborhood was not pleasant. The street was noisy. The room was tiny with an itsy-bitsy shower (no bath). The price was way to high for what this room was. It should have been less than half the price. The breakfast was very good, but I'd rather have paid half for the room, had a fancy breakfast elsewhere and still saved a bundle.

“If you want a good two star hotel clode to the train station..... this is it”

Friendly staff. Had car parking ticket ready as requested. Made dinner reservations for us in Cirre Terr. However - we expected a little nicer/newer accommodations. In my opinion this is NOT a three star hotel. It is a two star hotel. I’ve stayed in both. Comparing to two star hotels it met expectations; as a three star it failed miserably. Comments based on other three and two star hotels stayed in Italy.

“Not impressed”

Hotel is not within Europe Stardard 3 stars. Exterior and. Interior are really old. Bed and sheets are below one star hotel rating. Hotel staff is extremely rude and not friendly. The internet is not worth it, super slow and often disconnected. Besides the great location ( across from La Spezia train station, there isn't anything nice about this hotel.
