“A funny place - good and bad”
Maybe our expectation was too high - we were expecting a traditional, elegant manor house with the old high society charm. What this hotel offered at this point to us was a beautiful shell that used to be a manor house, hectic renovations inside, many many Japanese tourists, Eastern European staffs who barely spoke English, and random ambience destroyers such as "Raw Hide" song during a breakfast.
They had wonderful things, such as a gorgeous garden and modern renovated rooms. But it's also totally understaffed and constructions were everywhere inside. My parents' room sink didn't work.We called the front, but nobody showed up. Both our and their room had a compliment gin set by the window, which was wonderful, but they placed cheap, thick, stupid coffee mugs "Mr. tickle" on the tea tray instead of a real teacup.
Again, the "Raw hide" during the breakfast was my personal highlight - they can use a professional brand image consultant.
It is still a nice hotel in its own way, but don't expect too, too much.
