I recently spent 7 nights at the Markus Sittikus in one of their single rooms (room 36). I spent a long time reviewing hotels but in the end went for this one based on its price and location, being half way between the train station and the old town. You can walk anywhere you would want to from this hotel with ease. I have to say I was so pleased with my choice. The staff are all very friendly. The room, whilst small, was well laid out with a modern bathroom, a safe and somewhere to put my suitcase (it's always a pain when there's nowhere to put your luggage!). It was clean. I slept well. The breakfast costs €13 per day and I took this every morning. It is fantastic - a glorious spread of cereals, fruits, lovely bread rolls, eggs, meats and cakes. You can really tell an effort is made to make the breakfasts special. It is served each morning from 7am but a couple mornings I arrived a bit early as I was trying to make a particular train time. I would have been more than happy to wait but each time I was allowed in to make a start which was very kind. Given all of the above I really feel this hotel is fantastic! Thanks for a lovely stay and maybe one day I will return. I hope so!

My son and I stayed one night to see old Salzburg on our way to Munich. The location for walking to the old city was perfect, and a nearby Biergarten was great, had atmosphere and good food with an easy walk from the hotel.

Salzburg's Old Town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997. Its main shopping street, the Getreidegasse, is one of the busiest shopping streets in Europe. Mozart's Birthplace is also on this street and can be toured. Other top draws include the Salzburg Cathedral and the Hohensalzburg Castle, which towers above the Old Town, offering wonderful views of the city.
