If you want a bland same-as experience, you won't get it here. There are a few downsides: if you want ice you have to ask at the front desk, and the elevator is kind of slow. But this place has character and the rooms are nice, clean, well furnished, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Nothing special but very nice and clean hotel. Pet friendly. Streets around could be a little bit noisy (especially in weekdays). Beds are nice and firm. One thing I didn't like - had to pay for hotel parking :( . In overall I had excellent stay.

Castle Inn is conveniently located near many attractions, restaurants, and shops. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. My only complaint is that the mattresses are bouncy: if your bed partner moves, you're going to feel it. But this is a minor issue with our stay. We had plenty of pillows, the room was clean, and everything worked. We would absolutely stay there for future visits, and we've already recommended it to friends.

The Opal is located on a major street with bus service straight to Fisherman's Wharf and Union Square although you are close enough to walk to Union Square. Breakfast is included which is awesome! There is a fitness room - you can lift weights or do steps. The room was immaculate, and beds were super comfortable and warm. The thermostat; however, was a bit difficult to control, and the room was a bit hot for our taste although the staff was very nice and quickly came up to work on the thermostat. The staff, in general, was fantastic, very helpful, printed out our boarding passes, gave us info about the city and tours, and arranged our airport shuttle.
