A typical airport hotel; nothing more.

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Excellent convenience to the airport.
Nothing special here. Its a bridge to hold you over to get to your flight. And maybe that is enough and should be appreciated for that itself. But it is showing its signs of being people-worn along many fronts.

Decent hotel by Irish standards.

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The room was nice and the breakfast was good.
Cons: The WiFi is terrible. Kept getting kicked off so finally gave up. Typical Ireland.
Location: Near Bunratty Castle not at it. Short walk to the castle and park. Leave a half day to spend at the castle.
Hotel stay was nothing special. It's description and pictures are misleading since it's in the area of the castle and a short walk but not a castle hotel. The room was kind of a suite and very nice. Only the bar was open for food so we walked to a nearby restaurant. The room was very expensive by American standards but that's Ireland. We wished we had planned more time there only so we could have spent a lot more time at the castle and folk park.

Had dinner at castle and experienced a local Irish jam session back at the hotel pub afterwards.

Perfection as usual

We have stayed here every year for many years. Perfect spot arriving from USA, then going back, pure convenience. Sinead is a delight representing the hotel, will go out of her way to please, the hotel should value her excellence in service.

Pros: Location
Cons: Either new management. Fix all of the problems.
Location: Near bunratty castle.
The room was very hot, although there was a portable air conditioner it had to run all night even though it was wonderfully cool outside day and night. There seemed to be a heating problem, even though the heat should not have been on. The over all condition of the hotel was shabby, as if it had not been maintained or updated in many years. Either there is new management or they are living off of their name. The food was OK. The breakfast for the price was really awful. The scrambled eggs were from a powder mix. I have made and eaten scrambled eggs for forty years and they were some of the worst eggs I have eaten.

Comfortable well appointed hotel close to Shannon

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: The beds, showers and grounds as well as the on-site restaurants were excellant
Location: Bunratty Castle and folk park for a family dinner and the shops located on adjacent grounds
Stayed at Bunratty Castle when we arrived and again when we departed Ireland. Comfortable family room where our family of four enjoyed exploring around Limerick and Shannon on our way home.

Bunratty Castle Hotel

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: A bit old and worn
Location: See above
Older hotel could use some modernization/renovation but served the purpose - close to Shannon airport (10 mins.) Castle across the street (but just walked around it as a little touristy) but even better, about an hour drive to Cliffs of Moher (great experience). Terrific seafood/steak restaurant less than a 5 minute walk from hotel - no breakfast included in rate (staff indicated 9 euro pp) but walk across the street to Millery where upstairs (Mai's?) has a terrific selection of fresh baked goods and great coffee.
