Just off the motorway and easy to find. Good sized room and en suite, clean, and comfortable at a budget price but above budget expectations!! Excellent breakfast and very cheap compared to other hotels.good for an overnight stop but comfortable enough for longer stays....very impressed!!!

A lovely hotel. Staff engaged, friendly, multi lingual. The third bed had been made up and turned down ready for use which was a welcome site for weary travellers. The swimming pool was a bonus and although around the edges where stored exercise bikes, this didn't detract from enjoying the pool which was open 9am until 10pm. (No lifeguard) the hotel was easy to find and just off the moterway. We arrived later but there appeared good facilities around the hotel to enjoy different eating experiences. We choose the family pizza across the road and would highly recommend it for any age to enjoy both the food, atmosphere are facilities. We left in the morning and said goodbye to some animals in the field next to the hotel a lama, and horses. There was no stress at the hotel. Breakfast is not included but for under 5 euros per adult for a cold buffet or around 11 euros to include the hot food it was well worth it. ( lidle is near but closed on Sunday) I would definitely stay again. We travelled as a party of 3 adults and 2 children and left relaxed and refreshed.

Considering there is a plethora of choice in the Aubiere area of Clermont Ferrand, and pretty much every budget hotel brand is represented, i chose the Arena hotel for an overnight stay as most of the others have pretty indifferent reviews.
From the outside, the Arena doesn't have a great deal to differentiate it from the competition, but the price is around the standard for budget hotels in the area. There is plenty of parking, and assorted eateries nearby (we chose Tabla Pizza) or a vending machine with snacks in the foyer. We were on the top floor, and there is a lift (which isn't always the case in budget chains). The rooms are quite small but nicely thought out, better than the standard budget hotel in my opinion. The bed was comfortable, the Aircon chillingly lovely for a 35c summer day and a wide range of Francophone TV was available to entertain.
Breakfast is served in a convivial little alcove adjacent to the reception and a wide range of sweet and savoury items are available for around €6. With my French being a little ropey, i misunderstood the setup for booking breakfast when we were checking in and booked it later on. The chap on duty was very accommodating and helpful.
If you come to this hotel expecting the Ritz, you'll be disappointed. If you expect an average budget chain hotel, you should be pleasantly surprised.

A little difficult to find, though the hotel could be seen from some distance away, but the journey was very worth it. A quirky (but in a nice way) entrance, very Art-Deco. Reception very efficient, with the Sommelier showing us to our room on the top floor via a quaint open cage lift that just fits 3 people (or 2 with luggage!) to an immaculate room with a view over Clermont Ferand and the sunset - simply stunning. The restaurant is not to be missed as the meal was one of the very best we have experienced - ever! AND that includes many visits to Michelin starred venues both in France and the UK. Make sure you are hungry before you sample the set meal, although each serving was small (not too sure whether to eat them, or mount them on the wall, as each was an artistic presentation, but superbly presented and the taste! A wow factor on two planes each time.
The bed was extremely comfortable, the room peaceful and airy (did I mention the view?) and the attentiveness of all of the staff from Madam, through reception, the sommelier and all the waiting staff was memorable.
What can I say - well worth the journey.
