Historic Glidden House

Posted Sep 28, 2014
Great location! Walked to Little Italy for dinner, walked to the Cleveland Museum of Art, walked to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. Pretty decent breakfast spread included pastries, fruit, cereal, bacon, eggs, yogurt. Outdoor and indoor seating. Was able to leave car in parking lot even after check-out which was convenient. Hotel is also close to the Cleveland Clinic, as well as being situated just off of University Circle (Case Western University).

great accommodations in the university district.

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: everything
We brought our bicycles and spent the day riding around the University and up to Little Italy to have dinner. During the evening went directly behind the Glidden House to the carriage barn which was turned into a Blues Bar. Very quaint, beer prices cheap and live music (every night). Made for an enjoyable evening. Next morning had a filling buffet style breakfast that is included in the accommodation fee. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was purpose of our trip to Cleveland. Distance from Glidden House to Hall of Fame not within walking. Instead we took the transit bus that gives an all day pass for five dollars. Spent evening on4th Street downtown and then took transit back to Glidden House.

The staff are exceptionally friendly, the ambiance is great. The only downside was there wasn't a lot for the breakfast by the time we went. They ran out of the stuff and the order wasn't due until the next day. But overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I would like to stay there again.

Classical Elegance

Pros: The gournet breakfast - cereal, yougurt, fruit, juice/coffee/tea, sausage/bacon, ham/turkey/cheese slices, eggs, sweet rolls/scones/bagels/croissants.
Cons: Change the breakfast hours from 6AM-9AM to 7AM-10 AM. It's a bit early to have such a gourmet breakfast. Perhaps wine/cheese happy hour from 5-6PM?
Location: The Glidden House is within a short walk of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Botanical Gardens and the Museum of Natural History--all are "must sees."
As I understand it, the original Glidden House was the mansion belonging to the Glidden paint company family. It has been beautifully maintained inside and out. Most of the rooms are in a section which has been added on to the original building. All are well appointed and the heat/air conditioner is quiet for those of us who are light sleepers. Maid service was excellent - nothing was overlooked. A coffee maker service and bottled water is also provided daily. TV reception on the large flat screen wall TV was excellent and the bed was quite comfortable.

Came to Cleveland for an appointment at Cleveland Clinic. Arrived very late to hotel, however the front desk clerk was very friendly and was able to meet our needs at that late hour.

Wonderful Hotel in Cleveland

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness and atmosphere.
Cons: Scrambled eggs would be better than the baked eggs now served. Coffee cups to go would be appreciated. An on-site fitness center would be helpful.
Location: Botanical Garden, Museum of Art, and Natural History Museum are just two blocks away.
Wonderful breakfast; a short walk to the Art Museum; safe area; I would definitely return to Glidden House if going to Cleveland.

Great little hotel

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Service, rooms, comfortable setting
Cons: Parking was tight.
Location: Great restaurants and museums, parks are within walking distance or a short car ride. The university is nearby as well.
I had business in the city of Cleveland and lucked out and found this wonderful little hotel near the university. The staff was very attentive and kind. The rooms were very comfortable and lovely. The Art Museum and other parks are within walking distance. There are great restaurants nearby. They serve breakfast each morning and the wait stay is excellent. An amazing place and I just loved it. I would absolutely stay there again.

Charming Hotel

Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: The hotel grounds are beautiful. The beds were comfortable. This hotel was a gem.
Cons: The only thing I would have liked would be to have a gym to use on location.
Location: There are museums and restaurants within walking distance.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. It is centrally located within walking distance to a lot of museums in the University area. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was delicious. Try the pastries! If we ever go back to Cleveland, I would definitely book a room at The Glidden House.
