On our way to Lake DistrictPosted Jul 3, 2014
Cons: Having a small shop where basic medication can be purchased. My daughter got a grass allergy and we had to go to the next town to get antihistamins.
Location: The nearby town is very picturesque, good place to visit when staying at The Stirk House
Beautiful place to start experiencing the surroundings. We stayed for one night only, and enjoyed every minute of it.

I arrived late at 9.45pm so had to have a sandwich from the bar.( very nice though) hotel location and views were great. I work away from home alot and i have to say it was the best nights sleep I have had. Breakfast was first rate and the gym / pool were good. Would recommend.

The sort of hotel I want to stay at!Posted Oct 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is exactly what a hotel stay should be like for me. Have stayed twice this year and both times great. Food is very good. Staff genuine and very helpful. Room very clean and equipped with everything you would expect. Decent gym and swimming pool. Also a very popular boxing training area for guests and members. Good location off main road, far enough away to be quiet. Lovely 'touches' - shown to your room and homebaked biscuits for your departure journey. If you are looking for a homely feeling hotel then I can very much recommend.

So comfortablePosted Aug 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
There was something incredibly warm and comforting about the hotel; within minutes of arriving I didn't want to leave. Some of the DIY leaves a bit to the imagination and some parts could do with updating but the room was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was incredible. Such a shame it's so far out of the way for us otherwise we'd be back again in a flash!

lovely placePosted Jul 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
Lovely setting , very well appointed lounge / bar area , room very comfortable . Shower was a little feeble but a very minor problem . The best thing about the hotel was the friendly welcome and friendly efficient staff . Also some nice touches with free canapés and free glass of port with the cheeseboard . The food in the restaurant was high quality and the breakfast was perfect really , plenty of choice and cooked to perfection . I can't comment on the leisure faculties as I didn't have time to use them but I did have a quick look and the gym seemed well equipped for a hotel gym . Really nice to be looked after the way we were and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel .
