“Good Halfway Point”
I stay here when driving from Northern to Southern California with my toddler. It's a perfect halfway point. The hotel is nothing fancy, but it's clean enough and has a decent continental breakfast. The cow smell doesn't get into the room, which is a plus. If you just need a clean bed, a shower and a little food before you hit the road, this place is perfect.
“not impressed”
As I stated above, we requested a roll-away in advance when we booked the room. When we arrived, after asking about the roll-away, we were told none were available. When we asked what they would do to compensate the error, their response was: You can cancel the reservation. They were unwilling to make alternative accomodations. We made suggestions which they finally agreed to. The level of service was unprofessional and disappointing.
“Not impressed”
The place was really a MOTEL - nice for a motel, but not what I expected. The grounds had recently been done and they looked good, but the room was worn and not fresh feeling.
“good choice when on I-5”
The hotel is located in Coalinga, right off Interstate 5, so the location is very convenient for travelers. The little bungalows are cute and well-maintained on the outside, with grass in-between the wings which makes things pleasant. The rooms are sort of a hodge-podge of decoration, with greenish-yellow walls in the bathroom and vanity area, and a reddish color elsewhere. The carpet doesn't match either color and the sofa (which supposedly hides a queenbed) was stained and looked dirty so we didn't sit on it at all. The room did have a micro-fridge which was convenient. The bathroom was very clean and well-stocked with shampoo, condiitioner and body wash in big dispensers. Good to not have little bottles! The room was quite large and had a nice desk, but no flat-screenTV. We got in very late and left early, so no time for tv anyway. Breakfast the next morning was more than adequate, served in a sunny room including canned fruit cocktail, waffles you could make yourself, plastic-wrapped pastries, some fresh breads, fresh apples and oranges, juices, and cereals. Also, there were scrambled eggs. We did not leave hungry! All in all, this is probably the best bet along I-5 in this area and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem in this town is the smell from the Harris Ranch lots, but that is EVERYWHERE!
“PLEASE GIVE DIRECTIONS.”
The hotel management were sympathetic about our problem with finding them but somebody should have been aware a long time ago that this could happen. They kept pointing out that the hotel was in fact in Coalinga, but nevertheless when traveling we refer to a reliable map, and that map showed the road to Coalinga town, not district.
“Impressed with room and service.”
The room was spacious and clean. Appeared to have been recently remodeled. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was more than adequate (fresh fruit, cereal. juice, fresh waffle, etc.) We would stay there again.
“Entirely satisfying convenient motel”
This motel is at the same exit as the Harris Ranch, where we like to break our trip from southern to northern California, it's our halfway mark. We like to have a steak at the Harris Ranch for dinner but we are entirely satisfied with the excellent continental breakfast at the Big Country Inn, which included yoghurt and hard-boiled eggs, so we got a high-protein start. The motel has Internet connections and refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms. The rate was excellent; it was a good value.
“Not located in Coalinga”
Newly redecorated. Nice room. It is located conveniently off I-5. However, it is not in Coalinga proper. Just a FYI.
“Clean, and confortable”
Clean and comfortable. Very close to freeway and restaurants. Very close to about other five hotels.
“Very Satisfied-Will Stay again on next trip”
Great place to stay when traveling between Reno, NV and LA, Good half way place to stop.
