Coba is situated 35 miles (56 kilometers) from Riviera Maya and about 45 miles (72 kilometers) from Playa del Carmen.
Quintana Roo is wonderfully endowed with fabulous things to see and do, from big-ticket tourist hotspots to still-undiscovered gems. Tulum, is 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the northwest, and Akumal is located 30 miles (48 kilometers) to the west.
When you are ready to head further afield beyond Coba, why not visit the nearest center. Tulum lays 25 miles (40 kilometers) away and is home to sights including Dos Ojos Cenote, LabnaHa Ecopark Adventures and Xel-Ha Water Park. Tulum has much of interest for travelers happy to delve a little deeper. Boca Paila, Tulum National Park and Tulum Monkey Sanctuary are other sights worth a visit.
A great way to understand a spot is by knowing about its earlier days. Take a trip to the ruins while you are in the area. Faith is an intrinsic facet of every region's make-up, so set aside some time to visit Quintana Roo's shrines and other sites of religious significance.
Exploring new destinations sometimes encourages the daredevil in people. If you are feeling adventurous, have a go at paragliding. Start a new hobby with one of the city walking tours and guided nature walks. There are plenty on offer in and around Quintana Roo.
