Cochiti Lake Vacations
Visitors can use Cochiti Lake as a starting point for further explorations. This much-loved region has been blessed with an abundance of wonderful attractions. If you have some extra time, head 17 miles (27 kilometers) to Los Alamos. Here you can pay a visit to the Los Alamos Historical Museum and Bradbury Science Museum.
Albuquerque, is another interesting spot to explore. It is about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from Cochiti Lake and offers a number of interesting things to do and see, such as Kirtland Air Force Base, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and Rio Grande Botanical Garden. Tricklock Company, Atomic Museum and Old Town Plaza are other good places to visit.
An excellent way to really get to know a place and its people is by getting an understanding of its past. While here, take the time to stop by the area's historic traditional villages.
If you visit during winter, try out some of the local wintersports including skiing and snowboarding. These are on offer in the region. Active travelers in search of an adrenaline rush shouldn't miss the chance to get their fix by signing up for a hiking or mountain biking adventure.
If you intend on traveling by air, take into account that the most convenient major airport is Santa Fe Municipal Airport, 14 miles (23 kilometers) to the east of Cochiti Lake.
