“Wonderful historic hotel”

We enjoyed the room very much. We stayed in the newer rooms but they have radiators and pull chain toilets. The dining room served delicious food

We were only passing through this time but the Buffalo Bill Museum is excellent

“too commercial - if you go ask for a room in the oldest part”

we ended up in a room in the part of the hotel that was built in the 70s and it reflected that. It was clean, but not the "true west" character we had hoped for. The gunfight was fun, but overall, way too commercial for our taste. cody is nice, free parking and be sure to go to the rodeo!

Area recommendations
the Cody rodeo is every night in summer and well worth it. There's a staged gunfight outside the Irma at 6 pm every night, that's fun, and done for charity. saloon lived up to it's reputation, the cherrywood bar is amazing. Parking is free in the town, there are several great shops.

“Ready to return anytime!”

The Irma Hotel in Cody, WY was a great place to stay. There is alot of history associated with the Irma. It is named after Buffalo Bill Cody's daughter. The original hotel was built in 1902. It has been maintained very well. We stayed in the "newer" section, but would like to experience a stay in one of the original rooms. A housekeeping staff was generous enough to show us some of the original rooms. They are impressive. We are ready for a return trip at anytime!

Area recommendations
Downtown Cody has many shops to stroll through. During the summer there is a rodeo nightly. It is surrounded by mountains, and about an hour away from Yellowstone Park.
Dining
The Irma Hotel Dining Room was delightful. There is alot of history, with alot of original furnishings. Beautiful woodwork throughout the spacious dining room. The food was excellent, as well.

“The Irma is amazing except for the smoking in the bar that spoiled it all!”

The Irma Hotel is lovely .. except for one thing. Although the whole place is pet- and smoke-free (you even have to sign an agreement when you check-in), they allow smoking in the bar and the smoke moves everywhere .. especially up the lovely old staircase to the historic rooms on the second floor. It would help if they closed the swinging doors, but even then, it would spoil the air. We put a blanket across the threshold of our door, opened the windows (January in Cody, mind you) and bought some orange essence spray. They MUST get rid of the smoking or I will never stay there again. What a shame for such an amazing hotel!!! By the way, the room and bath were IMMACULATE!!! And the antique furniture was a real surprise.

“Not Impressed.”

I made the resevation 7 months advance. Our room was signed up at the corner of the main street and the parking lot. So, there were at lease 20 motocycles parked next to the two side of the room. We could hear the roaming from the bikes' parking and leaving every ten minutes.

“Great "Wild West" Hotel”

If you are looking for a hotel with the old west experience, this is it. Old-fashioned decor with modern amenities. Creaky floors and all! Great staff. Great restaurant. Would definitely go here again.

“Irma in Cody, WY”

We stayed at the Irma October 26, 27, 2009. We knew it was a piece of history and not a modern hotel. It was great. It is in a good location for any place you want to walk to in Cody.

Traveler's tip
Cody, WY is a great town. Be sure and eat breakfast at "Peter's". They have great sweet rolls and the rest of the breakfast was good too. They also pack box lunches if you're going into Yellowstone. I thought the $ for the room was a good value. We were there in late October and there was snow as we traveled on into Yellowstone.
