Clean. Comfortable. Walking distance to downtown

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Clean! Friendly
Location: Downtown fun. Beach on Lake Couer d'Alene. Boating. Biking
Made to feel very comfortable. Welcome was great. We were housed in room 6 on the third floor. OK for us and a small amount of luggage, may be difficult for those with some health problems. It was a lovely stay for us. Breakfast was simple but delicious...fresh fruit, berries of all sorts, pastries, granola, yogurt, coffee, juice, bagels...more. Met a lovely couple also staying there and we so enjoyed breakfast outside with them. Lovely B & B.

Charming but glamourous!

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location!!! Plus the rooms are private and roomy and very beautifully decorated with a combination of antique and glamourous.
Cons: The shower needs some help as it sprayed all over the floor and hard to adjust. Plus more storage for bathroom personals would have been nice.
Location: We walked downtown several times - so finding a place for coffee, meals or shopping were only a few blocks away.
We had a terrific time staying at the Blackwell. Lizz is a great host - helpful, funny and made our stay relaxing and wanting to return. This hotel is walking distance to everything downtown and we loved our two days there, not wanting to leave. We took bike rides and spent time in the back yard reading quietly. We had access to snacks 24/7 and nothing was finicky, which we really appreciated.

A gem in Coeur D'Alene

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Beautiful decor, comfort of room/beds, free breakfast
Location: perfect location to downtown
We recently stayed at the Blackwell Hotel while in town for the Ironman competition. I booked on Expedia not knowing what to expect, and when we arrived, I was like WOW!!! This place is gorgeous! The manager Liz greeted us and showed us our room with a plush air control bed, the most comfortable chairs imaginable, and private bath. The hotel is right on the Ironman race course, and the PERFECT location to stay. Just a few blocks from downtown, and a yummy breakfast FREE every morning. We'll definitely be back. Liz and Abby took great care of us.

Clearly not a 4-Star hotel

Posted Jun 27, 2014
Pros: Charming old home converted to guest rooms near the lake
Cons: Need more guidelines on booking this hotel on Expedia e.g. public bathroom? small pull around shower? twin beds that are 5'5" ?
If you're looking for surprises and a bit more frontier-like hotel room, then the Blackwell is for you. If you're looking for a 4-star hotel with amenities, then the Blackwell is not for you

Wonderful place, will definitely stay again

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
Location: Walking distance to all that Coeur d' Alene has to offer
We are not 'hotel' people. As such, we tend to look for VRBO'S or other alternatives to the traditional hotel. Having said that, we are often not "B&B" people either. For whatever reason, we've often found them a little uncomfortable, if not stuffy, especially when it comes time for the communal breakfast where you're sitting in a small area with several other uncomfortable people having a meal together. This was so NOT the case for this place. The manager, Liz, was amazing! She made us want to come down and sit in the kitchen with her just to visit with her more! The food was great, the property beautiful, comfortable, and well appointed. We felt like we were staying in a larger, grander version of our home, but with the added bonus of being care for, tended to, and cleaned up after! Guests are welcome to come into the kitchen, help themselves to food, wine, or store their own items in the fridge. Nothing was off limits. What a great place to stay and thank you, Liz, we will be back!

Very old facility with no hotel necessities

Posted May 15, 2014
Pros: It was old and quaint!
Cons: Advertising should clearly state its extremely limited room facilities
Location: Nice location close to Downtown
A very expensive tiny room with: No refrigerator No TV No Safe No Washbasin No Toilet No King or Queen bed No relief from road noise No soft bed No decent pillow No room to swing a cat in! An honest advertised room, this was not!
