Zebra Motel Coffs HarbourPosted Apr 21, 2013
Pros: Helpful, friendly staff
Cons: Dilapidated room
Location: Handy for the highway
The room must have been 40 years old - very unexpected from a Best Western. Photos online were very misleading. For a room of this poor quality I would have expected it to be $100 a night not $180. Compared to the fabulous Best Western at Port Macquarie (modern, spacious, well equipped and only $162), this was so disappointing.

Noisy locationPosted Dec 20, 2011
Location: Without our own transport, we found Coff's Harbour itself generally uninspiring. However, having worked out the somewhat limited local bus service, Mutton Bird island was an interesting short diversion. We then hired a car for a day and after a rain sodden trip to Dorrigo National park, went to Moonee Nature reserve (just south of Emerald beach) where we enjoyed our first real close up contact with substantial numbers of kangaroos.
This is a hotel/motel directly on the Pacific Highway halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. So it, and the adjacent string of similar motels, attracts those people with vehicles, whether they be tourists or people on business. We arrived on the Greyhound bus which stopped directly opposite the hotel. Although initially it seemed very convenient, we soon found out that Coff's Harbour really requires the use of a car to get around. There were some supermarkets shops bars and restaurants within walking distance but the incessant roar of the huge trucks on the adjacent highway was off-putting. The hotel itself was fine. Service was helpful and with a smile. The room, although dated, contained all the necessary items. The hotel, indeed Coff's Harbour itself, would be fine for an overnight stop if you had a car. I would not recommend a longer stay.
