Noisy AC in the room. No AC in corridor

We'll cared for worn hotel in a great location

The staff was very attentive, professional and helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent although slightly expensive by Portuguese standards. The room was clean as was the building, all well cared for. Everything was in working order although the rooms could use some refreshing.

Decent hotel but we were conned

Pros: Good accommodation.
Cons: Some fair dealing and no more duping customers into paying more than they intended.
The hotel is decent enough, although a bit grubby looking on the outside, and it's not too far from the city centre. However, we had an unpleasant experience. When we booked in, the receptionist said that our rate included breakfast, which came as a surprise (we don't normally include breakfast because hotel charges are exorbitant) but we were quite happy to accept it. At breakfast, the attendant asked for our room number, as is normal, and no suggestion was then made that we hadn't paid for breakfast. However, on checking out, we were told that breakfast wasn't included in our rate. We objected that we were told otherwise but the receptionist produce documentation showing that breakfast wasn't included, so we had no alternative but to pay the extra 22 euros demanded for breakfast (we'd booked online and had no alternative documentation to hand). This feels like a scam to me. Don't trust them. Don't accept any statement unless you have it in writing.

Good Central Location

The Tivoli was a great choice for our stay in Coimbra. The hotel is a little dated, but the rooms were very comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful and offers valet parking for a VERY affordable rate. They were very prompt at retrieving the vehicle for us. We were a 5 minute drive from the university and town square as well as the Baixa area (by the river). Would definitely stay here again. Also, the restaurant and lounge staff were very nice. We spent both nights snacking in the lounge watching the World Cup games. The staff was attentive and all spoke English.

Great Stay

I found the Tivoli a great place to stay, very near the centre of town & at a really reasonable price. Staff were all very friendly & helpful & the food in the hotel restaurant was excellent......they even coped with some difficult dietary allergies I had. They were so good in fact my colleague & I had a second meal in the hotel restaurant later in the week....thanks to everyone.

Great recommendations

This was only a stopover stay so I can't comment on hotel location/neighbourhood but the service here was great and we were given some amazing recommendations for food. The hotel decor is a little outdated and rooms look tired but it suited our needs.
