“Port in a storm...literally”

My folks were heading back home after visiting us in Colorado. A winter storm stranded them in Goodland. I wanted to get them a hotel that would accomodate them well. The hotel took good care of them and fed them well. I am deeply thankful for this port in the storm for my tired, elderly parents.

“Wish there were more options for dinner”

Great place to stay on your way to somewhere else. There are not many options for motels in west Kansas. Travel reviews of the local restaurants were so negative that we were forced into a Pizza Hut, of which we have no complaints.

“Welcome retreat after driving and camping!”

Maybe it was just because we had been camping, but I was thrilled with this hotel. A large fridge, an indoor pool, laundry facilities with reasonably priced laundry soap. Safe area, my bikes didn't get stolen (which did happen at the Swissotel Chicago). It was clean, super comfortable and had nice decor and bedding. The pool was a tad chilly, but my kid didn't mind, and we had it mostly to ourselves. The breakfast was great for a hotel breakfast, the only bad thing was NO BUTTER!!! just margarine, which seems to be a common affliction for hotel breakfasts. Otherwise, I would have been 100% happy. Not much else to see in Goodland Kansas, but it was a great stop along the way to Colorado.

“Good for Goodland”

Enjoyed a wonderful spa tub and pool. Must be a very new hotel as everything looked and smelled new. Beautiful atrium.

“Horrible! Bad neighborhood, renovating, no internet, NO WATER (for an hour)”

We got there and it was being renovated. THEN we had checked in and she informed us the water was going to be turned off for the next hour. I got to my room and tried to log onto the internet and was informed (after I called them, not before) that the internet was not working indefinitely (it never worked). My air conditioner was not working as well as it should have. My blow dryer didn't work that morning until they sent someone up to work on it. The downstairs toilet by the breakfast area was stopped up and overflowing and I don't know if THAT was the cause of the stench in my 4th floor room or what but they had an odor eating machine in the hall and there was such a horrible smell. It was a BAD, BAD experience and no one seemed to care. OH and it's in a horrible part of town.

Area recommendations

I would recommend the Bossier area over the Shreveport area.

“Recommend. Family and Business Friendly”

Pleasant atmosphere, new appearing. Room was spacious. Sink is in the bathroom. Indoor pool and hot tub. Family and business customers. Breakfast was better than most hotels. Wide variety including eggs, B and G, waffles and other traditional items. East coast early risers, breakfast will ready at specific times not a minute early. Frig in room. No microwave in room or lobby. Yes, I would recommend this hotel. We are a family of four. Two teenagers. Two people over 6 foot and we were comfortable. Several families had small children and they were happy at the pool. Work out room is clean.

“Highly recommended”

Pleasantly pleased with the facility. Compared to other local hotels this by far was the best in the area. We would definitely stay there again.

“Looked brand new”

Not sure how long this hotel has been around, but it looked like new. We just stayed 1 night on our way to Colorado. Service was fine, the continental breakfast had a good spread, the dining area was nice, and the indoor pool and hot tub were modest but very clean. We stayed in a suite, which was fairly modest as well, but met our needs.

Traveler's tip

"On the Brick" cafe, in the downtown area of Goodland. Small dining area, but we were able to get a table right away. Wide variety of American food, and we enjoyed it.
