Nice hotel. Beautiful views.

Rooms were nice. When we arrived, the hotel did not have any record of our reservation but they quickly fixed that. It was a shame the breakfast buffet changed each day, depending on how many guests were in the restaurant. We went from having a gorgeous buffet of food the first morning, to a few bread rolls by the third morning.

Although this seems to be one of the better accomodation options in the Colca Valley I can not recommend this place. The main problem is with regards to meal times and meal quality. Breakfast is offered only until 08:30 a.m. and dinner only until 8:00 p.m. We stayed there during the offseason and not many other guests were there. When we came to the dining rom for breakfast, nothing was prepared at all. We only got a limited choice for breakfast and we had to wait while it was prepared. They have two thermal baths of which one was not in use because they thought there were not enough guests. The overall service standard was not very high.

Refugio is no refugio

This hotel is not actually all that bad, but it is certainly not worth the price we paid. The grounds were run down, the service slow, the room was filled with stains and damages, the beds were not that comfortable. This place would be great if they charged half the price they actually do, but you will not get your money's worth. However, the location right on the river is great.
