Outstanding value, friendly staff, great settingPosted Oct 24, 2014
We had a fantastic two-night stay at Killiwasi. The meals were consistently tasty (huge portions for the price), and while the menu is probably limited for a multi-night stay, we never ate the same thing twice. The staff was friendly and multi-lingual, and the complimentary hike to the ruins and hot springs was a wonderful perk. The rooms are spacious, clean, and there was ample hot water. This place is a gem--it's a bit of an oasis in the surrounding landscape, but I would receive men's it to anyone looking for a few peaceful days in Yanque.

Lovely little lodge with seriously nice rooms (much nicer facilities than I expected in such a little town and for such a low price - the nicest room and bathroom of any lodge I stayed at in Peru). Good food, nice staff, and overall a great value. Yanque is a little smaller than Chivay, but I loved it as a place to stay for a couple nights during a Colca tour. I'd definitely recommend doing 2 nights rather than just one, especially if it is at the start of your trip - you'll be thankful for the time to acclimatize to the altitude!

The room had a 180 view of the mountains. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The hot springs were very private.

Great stayPosted Aug 19, 2010
We stayed for one night at Killawasi. The hotel is recently built and very comfortable. The owner is superb and friendly in every way to make your stay as wonderful as possible. Food at the restaurant also great (ate 3 meals there in 1 day!) The biggest thing to think about before booking is if you want to stay in Yanque. It's a very small village that is 10 minutes from Chivay (which is 3-4 hours from Arequipa by bus). There isn't much of anything to do in Yanque itself, but the isolation makes it quite tranquil. I would definitely pick it again, but it's important to know what you're getting into before booking.
