“Would definitely choose this hotel when in the Silver Spring area or need visit Walter Reed A”
I happened to be in Silver Spring, MD on the weekend of February 5th when the Blizzard of 2010 occurred. My son-in-law was having outpatient surgery that day at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. We had arrived there the night before. The weather announcer said on Friday morning that the city would shut down at noon due to the pending snow that would start in the afternoon. I had booked two rooms for two nights, but knew that we would not be leaving the DC area before late Friday night. I called the front desk to extend the stay for two more nights. The staff was very accommodating, giving us our same rooms for Saturday and Sunday night. Though power went out all around us, the hotel had its own generator that kept us warm. The kitchen staff were super, providing delicious meals as though nothing extraordinary was happening. They did run out of some items such as celery sticks. But everyone remained cheerful and positive, dispite working double time and overtime, because other staff could not get into work.
