Recommended hotel for college visitPosted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful in procuring a taxi or a sudan ride.
Cons: If they want parents and/or visitors to stay at the hotel on parent's weekend, they need to set up some sort of van service to the university.
Location: Did not have the opportunity to explore since I was there to visit my son on campus.
When typing a search for "hotels near American University" this hotel came up. Although the hotel was clean and comfortable, the hotel is NOT close to this university. Although the hotel will offer a shuttle to the metro, it is still a 25-30 minute ride to get the bus in to the University. On the weekend, the metro was closed at different places for repair, so this made the commute much longer! I ended up opting for a taxi or a sudan ride. This cost ends up about 25-30.00 one way. The room was located close enough to the banquet area that the incredibly loud party being held on Saturday evening until midnight shook the walls. The hallways were also very loud at night, and the walls thin enough to hear the heated fight in a room several doors down from mine that carried on until 4 am.

15 minute commute to comfy motelPosted Oct 16, 2013
Pros: Most of it
Cons: The coffee served with breakfast.
Location: Washington DC
A well refurbished older motel with excellent facilities, excellent beds and very friendly staff. An easy 10 minute walk from the Metro or call their free courtesy bus. A diverse range of restaurants and cafes in easy walking distance. Please bar and lounge area. Free wifi in lounge area. Great full breakfast for $14 spoilt by the worst coffee I have drunk. The coffee in the room is better. Starbucks is accessed from the lounge area and recommended for coffee.
