castle hotel with very german feelPosted Oct 14, 2013
Location: Easy drive to rothernburg.
Enjoyed staying in a real castle setting. The hotel itself was well kept and the staff friendly. The hotel has a very German family feel which is something we enjoyed as we were traveling to German to soak up the culture. Room was clean.

Great ExperiencePosted Oct 13, 2013
We got the room with the Japanese canopy bed. Room small but bed really soft and cozy (it is a double size mattress). Down stairs and the grounds were great to explore. We spent the day discovering the town of Rothenburg, then got to the hotel about 3pm and that was plenty of time. Dinner and breakfest was awesome!! Hotel staff a little stiff but not bad.

The personnel is the rudest in the world and not the most honest.

Fabulous medieval castlePosted Oct 2, 2013
Our stay here was a great experience for our first time in a castle. The atmosphere was amazing & the restaurant served up a great meal which was welcomed after a long day travelling. Highly recommended!

Recommend a visit, but not overnight stay.Posted Aug 31, 2013
Pros: The hotel is a historical castle that overlooks the beautiful countryside.
Cons: Complimentary internet. Better bedding (mattress, pillows, etc). Oscillating fan in room and bigger TV.
Consistently unaccountable and argumentative management regarding check-in and internet availability. Manager couldn't locate Expedia reservation, but did honor rate after I provided proof. Fee charged for internet, which is only available in lobby area. Mattress and pillows in "Honeymoon Suite" were extremely uncomfortable. Furniture was not functional. TV was very small. No air-conditioning or screens on windows - would not recommend that particular room during warmer seasons. Certain historical insignia on furniture could be found offensive to some individuals.

The real thingPosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
The current castle structure is over 300 years old, but the site has been occupied since ~700. Very interesting, nice and comfortable rooms in a stone structure on hill overlooking the valley. Definitely not handicap accessable! Think climbing steep & curvy wooden stairs. Staff are pleasant and helpful, restaurant is quite good and reasonably priced. If you have allergies, be aware it is dusty (you can’t clean away the centuries) and the site has been used to occupy and/or oppress the neighboring regions until the early 20th cent, thus there's some energy in the place.

Like a MuseumPosted May 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
The highlight of our 2 week Germany trip was staying in this castle. It was like living in a museum. We wanted to extend our stay but it was completely booked the next day, because of a wedding. Enchanting.

A castle fit for a king!Posted May 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a magnificent old castle with many antique appointments. Although not very convenient to the Romantic Road, its ambiance makes up for the short drive (15-20 minutes). Staying here makes you feel regal, and the property also has a beautiful golf course. An added plus are the delicious meals in the restaurant. The only downside was at checkout I had to check my rate--because the hotel tried to charge me a "summer rate" instead of the one I got on Hotels.com; anyone could have made this mistake, though, and it's a good reminder to always have that information available.

Incredible dinner and stay at the castle!Posted Apr 1, 2013
I had my retirement dinner (US Army) held in one of the dining halls..incredible..beautiful..so much history..I had over 120 people for dinner and everyone had an incredible time. I stayed in one of the rooms and again...incredible room..very comfortable, great service. The best thing on my stay at the castle was breakfast in the morning..I sat there drinking my coffee w/ the wide open veranda overlooking the valley..breathtaking.

Stayed in a Historical roomPosted Mar 13, 2013
We stayed in a historical room and thought it was absolutely fabulous. The room had one wall which was the castle wall. Furniture was quite antique and was lovely. The dinner we had in the dining room was lovely and was not overpriced. All the staff we spoke to, spoke some English, certainly better than my German. Loved the hotel, once in a lifetime experience!
