“Excellent hostel in an excellent location, just bring a padlock.”

We loved almost everything about this hostel. The rooms were great, the beds were comfy, our room (and I think all of them) had its own shower and toilet (separated WC and shower - brilliant), even a TV with CNN international in English. The rooms also have lockers, for which you must provide a padlock, But DON'T be a moron like me and go smoke a cigarette on the lovely, shaded patio or go out for a quick beer without locking up your valuables, even if you have a private room. It doesn't feel unsafe or seedy, but opportunistic thieves are around and seem to have easy access to rooms. Some other nice aspects of the hostel: it's walking distance to Neumarkt, to trams 1 and 9, and a market that's open until midnight every day except Sunday (closed). There is wifi throughout and computers in the lobby. It's not free, but it's cheap enough. There is no kitchen, but there is a 24-hour bar and friendly people will caffeinate you or sell you beer. We didn't sign up for the inexpensive breakfast but did scope it out and it looks like it's worth it. There were even cold cuts.

“ideal location, excellent value”

This hotel is excellent. The location is perfect, less than a two minute to Rudolfplatz Christmas market and tram stop and Neumarkt Christmas market and underground station is only another 5 minutes or so away. The city centre is close by. The rooms although functional are clean, comfortable and warm and represent excellent value for money. Breakfast at 4 euros is great - buffet, no limits on what you eat or drink. Nice idea to have a bar and snacks late in the evening serving hot and cold drinks. Would recommend to anyone.

“Cheep & Cheerful - would definitly book again!”

Greeted by friendly hotel staff at reception and checked in painlessly. Everybody we spoke to behind reception/the bar were very helpful and spoke good English. We were a group of lads who were basically looking for a room to sleep in and shower in - and they did the job perfectly. The rooms were basic but clean - we weren't expecting much and the rooms were a lot better than we were expecting. I would definitely book again if I was to return to Cologne or use another A&O hotel if I was to visit another area of Germany.

The room is much better then i expected. It the best location in town and safe. Staff were nice and speak English well.

Hotel was slightly basic in that no drinking facilities in room and tv channels were to a minimum, but the room was clean, staff were very nice and helpful. Continental breakfast was good. Location for city centre and transport was good. Overall I would recommend if a budget is necessary.
