Hotel was great and the staff was really friendly. Everything was very clean and the breakfast each morning was great (except there is no self serve coffee option so sometimes it can take awhile) the large downside was that the room got very hot every night and it was highly disruptive to sleep. Also there was no bed sheet. Only a comforter (top blanket) which I thought was strange.

Unique, large, modern, gorgeous room! Underground subway nearby could be heard from the room regularly. Hotel neglected to prepare room for 4 guests but quickly remedied the situation with excellent service and a free bottle of wine.

Lovely hotel and wonderful staff. Very convenient to the Laxness Arena for an evening concert. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant area is in a converted swimming pool. It was quirky and elegant and quite fun for your early morning coffee! I would most definitely stay here again

Friendly and welcoming, both the reception and restaurant staff were very accommodating. Very clean. Great facilities. Best breakfast buffet I have had, and lots of vegetarian options.

For the price paid it was not very exciting. Staff was not up to quality, but I already gave feedback on most of that. The restaurant was closed though on Google it said it was open and no information on that was given on check-in. Room keys randomly stopped working.

Good for a business stay. Easy garage parking.
The name “Palais” makes you believe it’s like a palace, so a bit disappointing to enter the hotel lobby. However staff at the reception is very sweet and helpful. I first got a really disappointing, dark room, and was upgraded after I objected, to a room of the type I expected to have paid for. The breakfast room is what must give the hotel the name Palais, it’s huge, but the selection and quality in the breakfast buffet isn’t impressive at all, compared to other German hotels at the same price. The room I got, was nice and bed was comfortable. Parking was under the hotel, very convenient, and payment was easy, added to your bill. The area around isn’t that exciting in the evening. A bit far and dark to go to the nearest restaurants, so better go further away by taxi for better selection.

excellent hotel for the fair
the hotel is very close to the Messe therefore perfect for those attending the fair. It is directly across the LAX arena. it is a a few blocks and a bridge away from the city centre. About 15 mins walk quiet area. not many dining options .

Great Location
If you're going to an event at The Lanxess Arena, then you can't stay closer! This hotel is literally just across the road. The hotel has a VERY small parking garage: when we arrived, bang on earliest check-in time, it was already full. There is however, plenty of street parking just around the corner, which costs €4 up until 09.00 the next morning (parking meters: you will need 1 or 2 Euro coins and 50 cent coins only; it says it accepts card payment, but didn't seem to recognise our British credit or debit cards). Be careful though, if you park in the same road as the hotel, it's a maximum of 3 hours stay. There are several very decent places to eat within a 5 minute walk. It's about a 20-25 minute walk to Cologne Cathedral, or there's a bus stop for the red line hop on hop off open top bus a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel itself was nicely decorated, the room had comfortable beds, air conditioning and a good bathroom. There's a breakfast buffet for €16 each. Restaurant staff were delightful, as were the females on reception. Unfortunately, the young man on the reception desk in the afternoons really didn't want to be there and it showed: he was unhelpful almost to the point of rudeness, despite our speaking to him in German.

An ideal choice and convenient location
We were surprised by a lovely upgraded room upon our arrival. It doesn't get better than that! It's a lovely hotel conveniently located to the Messe, Lanxess Arena, tram stations, etc...The hotel has been beautifully remodeled and our room was exceptional complete with a huge terrace. The breakfast has something for every taste and is delicious. The staff was always very helpful and friendly.I can't say enough about how nice it was to find this hotel. I will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Köln.

We booked to stay here as a last minute trip away over Easter. The price for the hotel was extremely good value and came with breakfast included. The room was spacious and modern. Breakfast was a buffet style with quite a big selection. The hotel was clean, modern, and all staff were helpful and friendly.

The hotel is in a great location but is quite dated. Staff at front desk were appalling. Rude, inconsiderate and basically incompetent. They ruined our stay and left me in tears at one point. Will not be returning.

Beautiful old building
The hotel was a beautiful old building which had been tastefully resurrected. We were going to a concert at the Lanxess Arena which is literally 5 minutes away. Breakfast was excellent.

Lovely Hotel not far from train station
This is a great quality hotel. comfortable large rooms with lovely shower rooms. The bar is small but lovely and with great service. We had a bar snack which was great quality. The self service breakfast buffet is top quality with lots of choice.

Very close to Lanxess Arena
Very nice hotel with wonderful staff. Room was great, the pillows were so comfy. Bathroom was huge. We were able to check in a little early and leave a little late which was very helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Extremely handy for the Arena which was the purpose of our visit. Maybe a little pricey but hotels in Cologne in general seem to be that way inclined.
