Good location & Quiet

Posted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: opening windows, good shower quiet at night
Cons: Staff knowledge needs improvement on bus service
Location: Nice walk along Rhine to old city
The management needs to do some staff training for front desk, reading recent review the promised coffee machine still not there. Women at reception not that friendly or helpful, men on the other hand more helpful but lack information on bus stop close by which is actually the Lindt chocolate bus stop going North or South to & from HBF (rail station) route 133. Also at bus stop is a taxi rank To be honest we enjoyed our stay, the position is excellent just a short walk from the River, down the side street of hotel & on reaching the T section is mustard Museum and in side street a few steps away is small family pub run by Hans & mother, his grandfather built the pub and we highly recommend it for good meal & a beer or two with reasonable prices(Mahler Bock), the hotel staff have no knowledge of this gem so close by. About 10/15minures walk is the Rewe Supermarket for extra supplies like fruit & Yoghurt Restaurant wise close by the Indian place is not good rather disappointing in fact

Very nice hotel; no coffee or free internet

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Very modern and clean, super comfortable bed
Cons: Service by the front desk staff. They are not helpful, borderline rude.
Location: Is a 10 minute walk to the Dom or cathedral which is the city center. A quiet if bit run down area; a lot of street construction when I was there.
I stayed two nights. The bed was ultra comfortable, it was very quiet, to the point where i did not have to use my usual earplugs, except for a couple of guys arguing loudly in the hallway in the middle of one night. As is usual for Germany, very clean and modern. If that's all you want this place is for you. There is a mini-bar/fridge in the room, but inexplicably no wine in it; I imagine it is not cheap. I found quite strange, given their aspiration to be a business hotel, that there is no coffee maker, coffee cups, or a hot water kettle available in the room. I had to walk a good 10 minutes to a bakery that had (crappy) coffee each morning--not convenient. They have breakfast available but is very expensive. While they speak English they seemed mystified about any additional requests or even a basic question, like about an airport shuttle. When I asked them to help me by printing out my boarding pass, I was told to pay 5 euros for the computer station they had in the lobby. Also radio in the room didn't work. So generally a physically nice place as long as you don't need any help from them. Cologne is provincial, and that is reflected in the indifferent attitude of the staff.

Nice hotel- some confusion

Posted Jul 12, 2014
They did not have the room i booked available, so they gave us a comp upgrade. I thought breakfast was included, the guy that checked us in said it was. At check out they charged me 150€ for it!! When questioned the guy said no call who booked you. Make sure you get it all worked out prior.

Great hotel, clean and comfortable

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Our room was very clean and comfortable. Quite luxurious and nice to stay in. One area that was strange, didn't worry us but might be awkward for some people. The shower was at the side of the room not separated by a wall, so having a shower being exposed was an experience to have. One thing to keep in mind , depending on who you are travelling with. Otherwise a great location, a 5 minute walk from the station. If you have baggage though would recommend to jump in a taxi. However a great hotel would definitely recommend

Our stay at Hotel Lyskirchen

Posted May 17, 2014
Pros: The swimming pool and gym. The hotel was very central, near and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see.
Cons: Wifi should be free not an extra 19 Euros Would be good if it had a lounge to sit instead of just the breakfast lobby No views of the river.
Location: Location brilliant, near the chocolate factory, main line station and trams. Also good restaurants, shopping and the cathedral within an easy walk.
Very comfortable pleasing hotel and public transport very easy to manage, except actually buying the train and tram tickets. Very easy to find the main sites on foot, an easy city to explore

Stayed for 2 nights. The room was very light and cozy. The stuff was very nice. The location of the hotel is really great - a quite street just one minute walk from the riverside. Close to the chocolate museum and not far away to take a walk to the dom or to some nice restaraunt.

Clean comfortable hotel

Posted May 7, 2014
Pros: All the tourist attractions are within comfortable walking distance.
Cons: Tea/ coffee making equipment in room. Storage cupboards/drawers for clothes.
Location: Hotel is about a 15 - 20 minute walk from the central train station and is well situated for visiting tourist attractions.
Hotel is clean, comfortable and efficiently managed. Staff friendly and helpful. Towels and linen changed during our 4 night stay. A quite location apart from the nearby church bells which start at 7am every day and will wake you up! The 7am peal is extended beyond the hourly strikes. Apart from the upper shelf in the wardrobe there is no drawer storage for clothes. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. Apart from these points we enjoyed our time and would stay at this hotel again.
