Nice hotel with helpful staffPosted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: Staff were welcoming, helpful and we liked the flags of the countries to indicate which langauge they spoke.
Cons: The bar prices were too high. We did not have breakfast or meals therefore cannot comment.
Location: Location not too far from the main city. Next to a main road & motorway we were not disturbed by traffic noise. Found small local pub.
Enjoyed Cologne but could not find a decent city map. Map provided by hotel was the same as the tourist info. map and contains too much detail therefore difficult to read. Typical modern European city but with it's own character. City comes alive when the sun comes out. Easy too find way around despite the poor map. Good boat trip on the Rhine, and cable car across the Rhine & road was exciting. For vegetarians it was no problem to find a good range of restaurants, cafes & pubs.

WIFI missing an internet connection disappointingPosted Sep 13, 2013
Pros: Staff were helpful
Cons: Better internet and just replace with free WIFI throughout
Overall hotel was good, would advise getting breakfast included in the room if thats what you want since its 20 euros a day otherwise. As a business user I was disappointed with internet usage. WIFI was only available in the lobby and although I was given an ethernet cable it was incredibly slow. Even downloading email was a mission. Which is why I gave the hotel facilities a low score.

A nice place to stayPosted Sep 7, 2013
Pros: Room was a pleasing size.
Cons: Rooms need wifi
Location: We walked from station to hotel all the way along the river bank. A few cobble stones but no real problems. Also hotel is quite close to a nice square
Everything was acceptable except for the lack of wifi in the rooms. We had to go well into the bar area to get connected.

Close to Cologne centre amenitiesPosted Jul 10, 2013
Pros: Breakfast and great sleep. Lovely gym, sauna and steam room in lower ground.
Cons: No Internet in rooms and poor water pressure from showers.
Location: Close to city centre and river / chocolate museum.
Internet not available in the rooms and water pressure from taps and shower was poor. Breakfast was extensive and very good quality. Overall a pleasant stay. Easy to get to from Cologne central station by foot or underground.

Central location, good rooms, rubbish showersPosted Jul 9, 2013
Pros: Central location
Cons: Low water pressure, no wifi
Great central location just 10 mins walk along the river to the centre. On a busy road one street back from the river (no views) but very good soundproofing. Excellent breakfast, good rooms. Let down only by (a) lack of wifi in rooms - only available in reception and (b) very very poor water pressure so showering was a miserable experience.

Get ready to WALK. :)Posted Jun 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel is about a mile from the train station. While you'll pass a tram station and a couple of bus stops while walking to the hotel, there's no easy way to take transit there. Walking is the best option for those with backpacks or w/o much luggage, otherwise cab it. [Streets/sidewalks are not conducive to rolling luggage.] Hotel is right across from the Chocolate Museum, and very near the Mustard Museum. Hotel is right next to a spiral staircase leading to one of the bridges, making for a great walk across the Rhine and excellent photo ops of the city. The walk from the train station allows for some meandering, so taking a different route every time led to the discovery of some cool restaurants/bars/brew rooms, and also shops. The hotel room itself was very clean and large (by European standards). We were quoted an exorbitant rate for breakfast, so we declined. Neighborhood boasts a couple of bakeries and sandwich shops, open EARLY (like 4 a.m.) so no problem finding b'fast sandwiches, baked items, and coffee outside the hotel. Qwik-mart in the gas station next door also a good option. Wireless internet access was an issue -- only available in the lobby and bar. While they offered to lend a cable for wired access in our room, I had a tablet instead of a laptop, therefore no compatible cable to borrow. Overall, it's a nice hotel (as my experience with NH hotels has shown), but I have to give it a "ding" for WiFi access, breakfast price, and distance from train station.

Comfortable and good locaitonPosted May 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
The NH is a short ~10 minute walk from downtown, which is nice along the river. It is good value rooms - clean and comfortable. It does not promise more - and is not fancy with loads of facilities. But you get good value here.

Convenient and modernPosted Apr 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed for 2 nights on a recent trip to Cologne, had a pleasant experience. Hotel is very close to the Chocolate Museum, and it's a 15 minute walk or so to get to the Dom and shopping areas. Room was clean, not a lot of frills but it was comfortable. Lobby was nice, great hotel bar, and a good restaurant attached.

Don't Waste Your Money!Posted Apr 15, 2013
Pros: absolutely nothing
Cons: doors that didn't lock, temperature gauge not working,
Location: close to the city - across the road from the chocolate museum but that's about all
this hotel was chosen because of it's 4.3 star rating plus it advertised free wifi. When we arrived, we checked in and were offered a cord to plug our computer in for internet access - my computer doesn't plug in with a cord and needs wifi. We went up to our room - it was dark, old and smelled awful (I'd requested a non smoking room and I'm sure we were in a smoking room). I took out my computer to check my messages - the wifi didin't work. I phoned down to the desk and was told that there was no wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby (not very convenient). We went down for dinner (only people in the restaurant) and I stood in the lobby and still couldn't get wifi. When I asked at the desk again, the girls got snarky, so I gave up. When we went to bed, I found that the interior lock on the door didn't work - you could turn the lock but there was no space that it would lock into - so I had to jam a chair under the door for privacy - good thing too because early in the morning, the housecleaning staff just walked right into the room. The bathroom door wouldn't close or lock, the room was hotter than hades and we had to open the window wide to cool it down because the temperature gauge didn't work. All in all, it was the worst hotel we've stayed in, rude employees, over priced and unsafe.
