    Sri Lanka’s capital sits on the Indian Ocean, and its colonial heritage is quite evident. Close to the harbour is Fort Clock Tower (once a lighthouse), Pettah Market, Old Town Hall and adjacent Viharamahadevi Park and National Museum. Several canals wind their way through the city’s backstreets. Colombo is 30 km (18.6 miles) south of Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB).
