"Stay here!!"
I cannot stress enough how well we were treated during our stay in one of the apartments. The owner was very friendly and helpful, he really went the extra mile to make sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. He even took care of out airline-delayed luggage without hesitation. The recently renovated room was very clean, with TV, air conditioning, a nice bathroom and a very comfy bed. We did not have any problems with the WiFi as some others have pointed out. Location-wise is difficult to find a better place than this. Literally less than 20m from the Coliseum. Plenty of restaurants nearby, and not only "tourist" ones, but also those that the locals go. All in all, we recommend this to everybody. We will definitely use it again when we go back to Rome.

"Hotel grifo"
we went for this hotel for the good price and the great location. on first impressions it doesnt look like a lot from the outside but ignore that its far better its clean bright and the staff are probably some of the best youve ever met.the rooms are not massive but plenty big enough with air con and a flat screen tele. the location is great if you could draw a line between all the attractions in rome then this would be right in the middle.there are plenty of great price and good qaulity restaurants all within a few minutes of the hotel. when i go back to rome ( probably 4 years time) then i will stay at this hotel.

"Superb location!"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Solis. The room was clean, cool and spacious. It was very quiet, considering we were on a main road, you could not hear any noise when the windows were closed. Across the road is a bike rental shop and we would recommend a bicycle tour around the city, €30 from 10am-1pm, it is a great way to start your stay. If going to the colluseum, go to the ancient city first, as then you can get a ticket for both and skip the queue. Camp de Fiori is a lovely place to eat and has a nice market in the daytime. The Trevi Fountain is under major construction for the next 2yrs, so would advise you give this a quick visit, but have low expectations! We went for 2 and a half days, but as there is so much to see and do, would of liked another 2/3 days, so would recommend a 5 day visit at least! The is a great tour company (Greenline tours) that did our afternoon trip to the Vatican and we booked through the hotel and they picked us up. Rome is an amazing city and one not to be missed!

"Would stay again in a heartbeat..."
If you want to stay in a beautiful little hideaway hotel that has a great views of the Colosseum from outside the main door, then I highly reccomend this hotel.. (Note Anfiteatro Flavio is Italian for the Colosseum) We only stayed one night but I would definately stay here again if I ever get to see the great city of Rome again.

"Great hotel near Roman Forum"
This is a fantastic hotel with an ideal location. It is across the street from the major entrance to the Roman Forum and just outside the front door of the hotel there are three great outdoor restaurants. The hotel is undergoing a bit of renovation - apparently combining it with the hotel next door. My hotel room was fine. Both the room and the shower were not large, but they both worked out well. The bathroom was modern and in excellent shape, as was the bedroom. But the room's air conditioner was outstanding. It was quiet and powerful - the best I have ever seen for a room air conditioner, and I used to travel for the UN. The breakfast area is an open-area on the top floor. It serves a nice selection of food and drinks for breakfast. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The TV had more stations than I could count - although only one (CNN) was in English all the time.

Pocket Guide: Rome Colosseum - Roman Forum Independent Family Hotels

The heart of Ancient Rome, all roads led to the Forum. Visitors flock here to walk the streets where Julius Caesar once trod when this was the centre of commercial, political and judicial life. Nearby, the Colosseum, described by Lord Byron as 'the gladiators' bloody circus', is the world's most famous amphitheatre and the most impressive of all Rome's buildings and ruins.
