"GREAT hotel in Rome"
I stayed here with a friend for a night in Rome, and we weren't sure what to expect because we booked it last minute. The front desk staff was immediately helpful and let us go to our room around 1pm. We got to our room, and it was clean with any amenities we needed. The windows completely blackout light with a switch, and the pillows weren't the terrible pillows we were used to in Europe! The shower had great water pressure. We ordered room service, which was brought up to our room within 20 minutes. The food is GREAT so we decided to eat dinner at the hotel that night. The waitress and kitchen were extremely accommodating with celiac disease and other allergies. The rooftop view is AMAZING if you have a chance to get dinner up there. This hotel is a hidden gem around Rome touristy sights, and the staff remembers people's names and room numbers to always try to help.

"Fantastic staff...wonderful location"
Fantastic staff...wonderful location. Very helpful manager. Clean spacious room. Lots of character for family loft with kitchenette & clothes washer. It was unexpected and highly appreciated after touring all Europe for weeks and having previously washed clothes by hand. Central to restaurants and landmarks. Only regret was that we didn't stay longer. Perfect for longer stays where you can cook your own meals. Would definitely stay there again. Loved it

"Excellent hotel, close to Ancient Rome"
We were very lucky to get a room in this hotel at the last minute. Having experienced a problem with my original booking at another hotel, it put our visit to Rome back on track. On arrival I was greeted by very friendly staff who checked me in swiftly and set me up with a complimentary tiramisu and ice cold water. The Superior Room we had was opposite the main Hotel, and was very beautiful, with a fabulous shower and lovely bed and bedding. WiFi was a little intermittent, but I have to be honest I didn't really need it, so didn't bother to see if I was doing something wrong, or follow up on that. Breakfast was included, and served on a very sociable small roof terrace. Continental buffet, tea and coffee, and a choice of cooked eggs. It set us up perfectly for the rest of the day. The staff were lovely, and conversation between guests flowed easily. There's also a very pretty 'roof-top' garden tucked away out the back. Every evening there was a very civilised 'happy hour', again served on the roof terrace, which was great for another chat with other guests before popping out for dinner. Check out the hotel's hidden gem behind reception during your stay. The staff really took care of us, and we really cannot fault this lovely venue!

"Fantastic location and great room "
Stayed at the Mercure for 4 nights. You cannot beat the location - it is within 5 minutes of the Colosseum with the rooftop pool overlooking it. The room was small but functional, with very effective air conditioning (vital!). The staff were friendly and always helped with directions and questions. The best thing about this hotel is the location - walking distance to everything and a bus and metro within a few minutes walk. There are also lots of restaurants nearby. With this you get both a fantastic location and a great room.

"Hotel with the mysterius bidet!!"
Hotel is clean and in a convenient location to the main attractions, the hotel is on a busy street so there is some street noise to deal with at all hours. Only a few problems with the stay, we had to tell 3 different people that we didn't have a working tv, it finally worked the last day or two. Housekeeping also left us without toilet paper one day (maybe they figured we would try the bidet), however the gentelman at the front desk took care of that and went above and beyond rectifying the situatuion in getting us toilet paper and even got us some ice so we could chill our wine. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast was included which was convenient. It would be nice to have the air conditioning on at night as well as during the day.

Pocket Guide: Colosseum, Rome Romantic Hotels

The heart of Ancient Rome, all roads led to the Forum. Visitors flock here to walk the streets where Julius Caesar once trod when this was the centre of commercial, political and judicial life. Nearby, the Colosseum, described by Lord Byron as 'the gladiators' bloody circus', is the world's most famous amphitheatre and the most impressive of all Rome's buildings and ruins.
